Questionable Ethics

Questionable Ethics is the eleventh chapter of Half-Life. In this chapter, Gordon Freeman explores a high security branch of the Black Mesa Research Facility apparently concerned with research into both Xenian fauna and new weapons. The 'Questionable Ethics' title alludes to the way in which this research has intertwined, with imprisoned creatures apparently present in order that the weapons may be tested on them.

The player first encounters the Xenian Alien Grunt here, along with the Tau Cannon and Snark Pickups.

Trivia

  • Questionable Ethics consists of the maps c2a4d, c2a4e, c2a4f and c2a4g.
  • Progression through the chapter is somewhat non-linear: a puzzle in c2a4f grants access to a key area in c2a4e, and the player can return to the foyer in c2a4e in a number of ways unlocked by progression through the level.
