Overwatch Nexus

The Nexus was the primary command centre for coordinating Overwatch forces stationed within City 17. The Nexus of City 17 was a based within an adapted human building, though it's original purpose remains unknown (Barney Calhoun referred to it as “an old bank or museum or something like that.”)

The Nexus itself is defended by a 'Suppression Device'; essentially a large cannon that fires a projection of super-heated plasma that vapourized anything it touched. The device was powered from within the building by three, standard Combine generators that also provided power for the many forcefields positioned throughout the building.

During the Street War the Resistance, led by Gordon Freeman and Barney Calhoun, launched an assault on the Overwatch Nexus and succeeded in shutting down the three generators, disabling the suppression device and opening nearby gates to allow Resistance fighters to more more efficiently through the area. The courtyard outside the building was severely damaged in the ensuing Strider fire, and the building itself suffered minor structural damage from dropships taking off from its roof. Its subsequent fate after being captured by the Resistance is unknown.
