One of a new range of Personal Defence Weapons from Heckler & Koch, the MP-7 PDW is designed to offer armour piercing capabilities within the size of a sub-machine gun. A large magazine, high rate of fire, plentiful ammo throughout the game, and an attached grenade launcher make the MP-7 a reliable and effective weapon in the Overwatch's, Resistance's and Gordon Freeman's arsenal.
[edit] Description
Weighing around 5lbs. fully loaded, the MP-7 is small, with a 7.1in (180mm) barrel length. The gun's stock is retracted and the front grip is lowered. The MP-7 is fitted with a red dot sight for added accuracy.
A HE grenade launcher is mounted to the bottom of the barrel.
[edit] Use
Though not the most powerful automatic weapon, the MP-7 can quickly dispatch multiple enemies thanks to its high rate of fire. The downside is that it will often take a full magazine to do so, as the rounds don't pack much punch. Because of this, the MP-7 finds its niche as the perfect "backup," finishing off enemies wounded by heavier-powered weapons and falling back on it when you want to conserve ammo for other weapons or need to reload those other guns. It is most effective at short to medium ranges, as its accuracy declines as distance increases.
The portable grenade launcher attached to the MP-7 is the more efficient (and arguably useful) part of the weapon, allowing you to quickly kill a handful of enemies with one well-placed grenade. It is a great crowd cleaner, and against single enemies giving you trouble it can be the difference between life and death--just don't fire the grenade to close to yourself.
[edit] Trivia
- Though the H&K MP-7 PDW is a real gun, there is no 45-bullet variant. The real life MP-7 only supports 20-round and 40-round magazines.
