Decommissioned Rail System

Spreading beneath the vast Black Mesa Research Facility is one of the many relics of the Cold War missile base that existed here. Kilometers of cramped tunnels for monorail train platforms form an intricate labyrinth of stations, caverns, control rooms and magazines. Sections of the rail system remain in use, as freight transportation and storage. As such, massive power generators remain operational and supervised in Sector E, where the main track control is also located.

During the Black Mesa Incident, the rail system was mostly sealed off by the HECU, as despite their firepower, they were unable to control the entire system and resorted to simply controlling key locations and entry points, with their primary operations center for the sector located in the track control center. Gordon Freeman used the system to make his way to the satellite delivery rocket launch control.
