Darkside55

Darkside55, aka Darkside, is a content writer for the Halflife2.net website. He is known for his long-winded posts on a myriad of subjects running the gamut from the Half-Life universe to politics. He is most frequently seen posting in Singleplayer Mythology, explaining things he has explained one hundred times before to people who cannot find the search button.

Early (forum) life

Darkside joined the Halflife2.net forums in June of 2003. He did not make his first post until two months later, on 3 August: an expansive post on Half-Life plot points that literally killed the thread he was in. This post immediately set the template by which nearly all other posts made by Darkside55 would follow: excessively verbose, crammed with information, and likely to make people vacate the thread and surrounding areas.

His second post (a mere three sentences) was an introductory message wherein he billed himself as a Xenobiology expert. The post contains a now semi-humorous note about "waiting until September 30th [2003]" for Half-Life 2's release.

Darkside immediately set up residency in the Half-Life 2 forum, and later would be an avid poster in Rumours and Speculation, which he referred to as his "home forum" until its closure in February 2007.

Opus

In 2006, Darkside55 wrote his masterwork dissertation on the headcrab. It remains to this day the largest and most complete compendium of headcrab information ever compiled, totaling a staggering forty-plus pages. This paper, "Everything You Wanted to Know About Headcrabs...and More," was the first of a planned line of similar works, of which only one other has been released: "Everything You Wanted to Know About Vortigaunts...and More." However, due to hosting limits, only the headcrab paper is available for download.

Currently, these articles are on indefinite hiatus and are considered to be ongoing works in progress.

Staffed

After releasing the headcrab paper, Darkside was granted a staff position writing content for Halflife2.net.

Trivia

• Darkside55 has also been known as, "Darkseid," and, "That headcrab guy."

• An old forum signature labeled Darkside55 as a "terrible and inhuman existence." This cropped up recently as Darkside himself reminded people to, "Never forget that I am a terrible and inhuman existence."

• At every chance, Darkside will argue with you that Dr. Breen was right and that the Combine, "aren't so bad." What he really means by this is, "turn over your organs to our glorious overlords, meatsacks."

• Darkside can rap.

• V-Man339 (a.k.a., V-Man) is a big fan of Darkside and his general thoughts on everything Half Life (except for his opinions on Barney).

• Darkside55 is a 4chan member and uses 4chan meme's.
