Black Ops

Black Ops

Following the Black Mesa Incident and the failure of HECU's containment force, it became apparent that the facility posed a significant problem, as did the survivors. To solve both of these problems, a special taskforce was dispatched to the facility. It was a contingent of black ops operatives, whose sole objective was to remove witnesses and ultimately the entire facility.

Outfit

The Black Ops were geared more toward infiltration and assassination rather than regular frontline combat. They wore black full body jumpsuits with a composite combat vest for protection and a battle harness for carrying ammunition and other equipment. Balaclavas and night vision goggles were commonly used, with the former having communication sets integrated into them.

The equipment differed between the assassins, as female members relied primarily on their agility and thus wore much less equipment to have as little encumbrance as possible. They used silenced Glock 17s with deadly precision and hand grenades. Males were more suited for combat and used M4 Carbines as well as Heckler & Koch MP5N and M40A1 rifles in combat. They also used combat knives, smoke grenades and hand grenades.

Modus operandi

As a clean-up crew, the Black Ops operatives had the objective of removing all witnesses, essentially all HECU and scientist survivors left behind and then detonate the facility in a nuclear blast. Due to their training, they were able to quickly seize the abandoned facilities and fortifications and using their own Apaches and Ospreys methodically remove the remaining personnel as well as deliver a warhead to the central point of the facility.

They preferred stealth as their primary tool and method of engagement, as it allowed them to dictate their own rules to the survivors when engaging them. Usually the black ops pinned them down and then moved in to execute them, rarely taking survivors to brutally interrogate. When attacking, they preferred ranged combat, but when confronted in close quarters, they demonstrated lethal proficency at martial arts. Female assassins also employed their unbelievable agility in combat, being able to literally disappear after an amazing jump, leaving the assailants confounded and vulnerable.

The black ops operated in total silence, refusing to even scream when hit by gunfire or wounded by other means. After each confirmed kill, they reported it to their command.

Additionally, they seized all opportunities to fulfill their mission, which included shooting down a V-22 Osprey and mowing down survivors with machine gun fire.
