Azian Vance

Azian Vance was the late wife of Eli Vance and mother of Alyx Vance who died in the Black Mesa Research Facility during the Resonance Cascade. Azian and Alyx were staying at Black Mesa during the time Eli was working there, obviously in a dormitory section of the facility that the player does not see, when the incident occured. Neither Azian or Alyx is seen at all in Half-Life.

The only known appearance of Azian is that of a black and white photo, found within Eli's main lab at Black Mesa East in Half-Life 2.

Eli makes several references to Azian during Episode Two, commenting that she would be very proud of Alyx. Merle Dandridge, voice of Alyx Vance, comments that she feels that Alyx has always carried around the burden of her mother's death but has managed to be the person she is because of Eli.
