Alyx's Gun

Alyx's Gun, a small machine pistol used only by Alyx Vance

The small machine pistol known as Alyx's Gun is a weapon only used by the NPC Alyx Vance. It appears to be a custom-made weapon, with Colt 1911-style grip plates and what appears to be a foldable vertical grip fixed under the barrel. It has no visible sights. It is capable of fully automatic fire, firing at a rate of around 700 rounds per minute, and appears to have very low recoil and relatively high stopping power for such a small weapon. In Half-Life 2, Alyx only uses the semi-automatic function of the weapon, whereas in Episode One she will fire it on fully-automatic.

It is impossible for the player to acquire this weapon through normal means, and Alyx is the only NPC who uses it. The player can get the weapon through the console, although it does not display correctly as there are no animations for it to be used by the player. However, it can be used, and has a magazine capacity of 30 rounds, and a higher rate of fire than when Alyx is using it. However, the weapon can be used with correct animations in third-party mods, such as SMOD. Strangely, according to the game files, Alyx's gun was going to have the ability to be turned into a high powered rifle. Using the HLMV it is possible to view the animations for this.

The weapon's in-game entity is weapon_alyxgun.
