Steamworks Supported Mods Revealed
Posted @ 7:50 AM, September 27 2008, By: Hectic Glenn In Mods, Steam

A good while back you may remember Synergy accidently spilled the beans this was coming down the pipeline, there was great speculation on the 5 mods which Valve were going to provide Steamworks support for, as well as Synergy. The official word is the following:
  • Age of Chivalry
  • D.I.P.R.I.P.
  • Insurgency
  • Synergy
  • Zombie Panic
Most people guessed pretty closely, but now we know this update will be released next week. Steampowered - Source, and a reminder what Steamworks will bring.
Once installed, these MODs will appear in your "My Games" list and will receive automatic updates just like other games on Steam. Also, these MODs now take advantage of Steamworks, which provides stat tracking and tighter integration with the Steam community.

Are the red trumpets ready?

Red Orchestra

If not, they should be as soon as possible, as Red Orchestra prepares for another tour of Steam. Tripwire interactive has leveraged Steamwork's online matchmaking services, among many integrating the Steam Server Browser, joining games your Friends are playing (both in and out of the game) as well as support for statistic viewing on www.steamgames.com. From the press release:
"Adding support for Steamworks was an easy decision for Tripwire," said John Gibson, president of Tripwire Interactive. "The work to add this collection of services was minimal and will have a big impact for our fans. The matchmaking abilities added today will make it much easier for RO players to find matches. And leveraging the Steam Server Browser saves Tripwire time and money over the long haul, allowing us to invest more in gameplay and less in supporting services."
The update for Red Orchestra will be automatically applied both in Steaming and retail versions.
