Meet The Left 4 Dead Crew Coming?
Posted @ 5:22 AM, July 11 2008, By: Evo In Left 4 Dead, News

Turtle Rock studios creator and Left 4 Dead head-honcho Mike Booth has been talking to Left 4 Dead 411 and reveals some interesting tidbits about the game. The most striking is the confirmation that Left 4 Dead media (possibly like the Team Fortress 2 stuff) is due out soon. I guess we shall see some exciting stuff when Valve show off Left 4 Dead at E3.

Do you plan on having trailers exploring the four survivors similar to Team Fortress 2's "Meet the Team" advertisements?

L4D media is in production. We hope to have the first of it online for folks to check out in the coming weeks.

The release date in UK was the 7th. Does the UK release date also include any other countries or just the UK?

We're targeting the first week of Nov for availability everywhere. Retail debut dates vary by country, and L4D will become available on the standard "new release day" of that week.

You can find the whole set of questions and answers right here but bear in mind Mike didn't answer all the questions set by the Left 4 Dead 411 community.
Left 4 Dead – Dated

Left 4 Dead has been confirmed by Shacknews to be landing in late Summer, so expect August/September to be the time for the Zombie attack to be launched. Apologies for not bringing this to all your attention sooner!
Valve aquire Turtle-Rock
Posted @ 10:59 AM, January 10 2008, By: Evo In Left 4 Dead

In a move which shouldn't really surprise many, Valve have acquired Turtle-Rock Studios, the development studio behind one of 2008's most wanted games, Left 4 Dead. The two companies have worked closely for many years and is a move welcomed by both parties.

"We have been seeing very strong growth with Steam and Source, our content distribution and development platforms, up over 150% over the last 12 months. Given our expectations for Left 4 Dead and our long-standing relationships with members of the Turtle Rock team, this was an easy decision. It also gives us a base from which to expand our development activities in the Los Angeles area," said Gabe Newell, president of Valve.

"Left 4 Dead fills a long-standing demand gamers have had for a coop first-person action experience, and it will also help Valve's expansion into the console market," added Doug Lombardi, Valve's VP of marketing.

"Valve has had great success bringing in projects and teams such as Team Fortress and Portal. As I spent time working and talking with the creators of those products over the past several years, it became clear that this was the right next step for myself, my colleagues at Turtle Rock, our customers, and our products," said Michael Booth, founder and CEO of Turtle Rock Studios. "We are excited to be a part of such a visionary and forward-thinking company."
