- What is Left 4 Dead 2?
Left 4 Dead 2 is an upcoming cooperative first-person shooter game. It is the sequel to Valve Corporation's award-winning Left 4 Dead. The game is currently set to launch on November 17, 2009, for Microsoft Windows and Xbox 360. It will build upon the cooperatively focused gameplay of the original and will be using Valve's proprietary Source engine, the same game engine used in Left 4 Dead.
- When is it due for Release?
November 17th 2009 for PC and Xbox 360
- What, no Playstation 3 version?
No plans for any version on the PS3
- Why L4D2 so quickly after L4D1?
Chet Faliszek, a writer who has had a major part in developing both games has said this game has so many additions, changes and improvements it is a true sequel. There was an initial backlash why this content couldn't be downloadable content in the future, but Valve consider L4D2 such a major overhaul of features it warrents a sequel.
- What major changes?
Valve boast the ai director 2.0 which is able to have more control over the game this time, including changing the weather depending on your success. We will also see the ai director be able to manipulate the environment around you, changing the paths you must take to reach your objectives. New special infected, melee weapons, many new guns, new items to use, 5 new campaigns which take place in a different location with different survivors and new gamemodes such as scavenge & survival.
- Can I play alone?
Of course, the 5 campaigns are map up of 5 maps with a finale. These can be played with 3 bots as team mates, however L4D2 is designed as a co-operative game and the best experience can be achieved by playing together with friends. Versus & Scavenge mode are multiplayer only.
- Is there a storyline?
It's the same universe and the same infection from L4D1, however the game takes place in the further southern reaches in the USA. The storyline was left fairly open in L4D1 due to Valve wanting to make you feel like you'd just been dropped into a situation without much understanding of what was happening around you. This time we will be in a similar situation however the campaigns will have a more defined connection with each other as the 4 survivors progress, ultimately trying to reach safety and evacuation.
- Will there be new content after release?
Certainly yes, L4D1 received several content updates including the survival pack after release. It is most likely there could be new campaigns or official support for community created content. L4D1 has seen these kind of updates and is still being updated despite L4D2's arrival.
