SPOTLIGHT - NEW SITE!
Welcome to our newly designed website created by our very own Yorick. There's been a big reshuffle and lots of new content added so check it all out!
C5 Black Mesa East
To start with, it's pretty pointless writing a walkthrough for this particular chapter of the game, seeing as you're pretty much led by the hand. If you can find any possible way to get stuck on this level then you're a better man - or perhaps worse - than I.

The level begins with a dramatic splashdown. Drive towards the old wooden jetty on the left, where an abandoned power plant stares imposingly down onto the waterway. Stop the airboat by the ladder (it's clearly marked with a Lambda symbol) and climb up.

At the far end of the lonely concrete waterfront, a rusted truck-cart marks the way ahead. Head up the ramp and round the back of the building, then right at the propaganda posters into a dark tunnel. As soon as you enter, you'll be sealed inside the airlock, so you might as well relax while you're scanned.
Eventually, Dr Mossman will let you out. Follow her as she escorts you through the complex (Through a chain-link fence, you'll see a man walking down a ramp - follow him with noclip and you may notice something rather odd) and step into the lift.

At the bottom of the shaft you'll get a warm welcome from Eli before Mossman departs and you're free to look around (if you follow her, she'll slip into a small communications room and you'll get an interesting reaction from both her and Eli. Hmmm...).

You might take note of some items of interest: particularly the clipboard, the cremator head on Eli's table, and the family photograph nearby. Looking at these objects will prompt some interesting anecdotes from Eli. The Vortigaunt might be willing to speak to you as well. Soon enough, Alyx will come in, and then Mossman. Sit back and listen to the exposition.

Eventually Alyx will offer to show you Half-Life 2's coolest weapon: the zero-point energy manipulator, or gravity gun as the kids on the street call it. Follow her and listen to the cool dialogue. When she mentions the Ravenholm tunnel, try going down it and she'll give you a more detailed explanation.
Soon, you'll come to an airlock - and the next zone.

Alyx will take you through into the scrapyard - a strange and tightly-packed canyon overflowing with rusted junk. Finally, you get your hands on the gravity gun. Primary fire blasts debris away from you while secondary fire pulls them towards you and holds them - Alyx will explain it to you and set some easy, simple tasks. Once you've climbed up onto the roof, follow her to Dog's playground (and if you head directly left when you come into the yard, you'll find an electric roundabout).

Dog himself is the most wonderful robot in the whole history of videogames, ever. Playing catch with him is an absolute joy until an unexpected Combine attack. Missiles will begin to rain down, soon accompanied by attack choppers, and you should probably follow Alyx as she races back to the airlock.

Eli's frantic message is cut short as absolute chaos fills the base. When Dog opens the airlock, follow Alyx until you are separated by a collapse in the tunnel. Alyx will tell you to take the Ravenholm Tunnel and get out of the complex, so take her advice and follow Dog back where you came from. He'll lead you to the door to Ravenholm, open it for you, and then it's time to say a tearful goodbye.

As you escape along the wide, dark tunnel, you should have your manipulator ready. The only enemies you face here are a multitude of crates and random furniture that block the stairs and the waterlogged room. You'll find a rather disturbing corpse at the bottom of the Ravenholm shaft and a dead headcrab might give you a nasty surprise - but don't let that deter you! Use the gravity gun (or just a pistol) to shoot the lock of the ladder cover. It'll swing open, allowing you to climb on up.

At the top, you'll emerge into a dark tunnel with wooden walls. Go round the corner to the right and you'll go on to the next level...a level few living souls have ever escaped from. Ravenholm. The Village of the Dead.
