Half-Life 2 Purchase Options
Valve's Steam software introduces a new way of purchasing games. In essence Steam is a broadband business platform for direct software delivery and content management. This means you can purchase digital versions of games through Steam and start playing within minutes of confirming their purchase. You can access the games from any PC and receive automatic updates.

As well as Half-Life 2 you can find all other Valve titles available to purchase through Steam, and there are an increasing number of third party games appearing. Every game can be purchased singly or part of a package. As an example these are only some of the packages available to purchase through Steam:

You can also purchase Half-Life 2 the old fashioned way through high-street retailers. All these titles are now published by Electronic Arts. When you activate one of the store game packages through Steam it automatically assigns the corresponding steam package to it. This means if you purchase the Holiday 2006 game box in a store you get access to the same extra titles as you would through Steam.
