- What is Episode One?
Episode 1 marks the beginning of an episodic trilogy aimed at wrapping up the current Half-life 2 story arc. Episode 1 kicks off seconds after HL2. Having just de-stabilized the Citadels dark fusion reactor, scientist turned resistance fighter Gordon Freeman is forced to deal with the reprucusions of his actions. With the Citadel in meltdown he is forced to flee a City in ruins, and aid in a mass exodus before the Citadel explodes - taking City 17 with it.
- Which characters will be returning?
Having survived the reactor explosion Alyx makes her return - this time however providing a far more crucial role to the proceedings. She'll accompany you throughout the entire game, utilizing her knowledge of City 17 and her technical know-how (for instance, she can re-program rollermines to attack the enemy). Her father, Eli, returns, along with both Judith Mossman and Barney Calhoun.
- Are there vehicles?
There are no driveable vehicles featured in Episode 1.
- Are there any new weapons?
No, just the ones from Half-Life 2.
- Are there new enemies?
In Episode we'll be dealing with the tortured human slaves, the Stalkers, as we frantically attempt to escape the crumbling vaults of the Citadel. There is also the inclusion of Zombines, zombified Combine soldiers with a knack for charging at you with primed grenades.
- Are there new locations?
The entire Episode is based within City 17 and the Citadel. You will see new locations such as the Citadel core, an old hospital and a trainyard.
- How long is Episode One?
Episode 1 is around 5-6 hours long.
- Do I need Half-Life 2 to play?
No, episode one is bundled in the orange box package or the episodic package. Neither of which requires Half-Life 2 to be installed.
- Are there increased system requirements?
System requirements are the same as Half-Life 2. If you able to play HL2 fine, then you'll be able to play Episode 1 just as well.
