Mini News: Azure Sheep / POV sequel in the works

Good News everyone! The word on the Azure Sheep website is that the team(s?) responsible for the popular (and frankly damned good) HL1 single-player modifications "Azure Sheep" and "Point of View" is working on a sequel called "Azure Stand". The bad news is that, it'll be a while til we see anything or play anything of this mod sequel: it's only in it's concept stages, with only the story complete.

This story has yet to be announced, but you we will play as Barney and Kate (from AS) and as Xonxt (from POV). The specific time-frame will be the Seven Hours War mentioned in HL2.

All those who have no idea what I'm going on about are advised to download and play these great mods for the original HL. Their official websites are:

Awesome! I loved both of those games.

Now I just want a confirmed project from Manke.

Yes, it's a shame that he's not going to go ahead with They Hunger Source ...

Well, Azure Sheep wasn't perfect. To say it was a bit rough around the edges would be being way too kind. It was hardly retail quality, but it was about as good as HL Single Player mods got (I appreciate to many that doesn't exactly mean a lot) - it was lengthy, often well designed and just interesting on the same "sightseeing" level as the official expansion packs were. To call it rubbish is far too harsh.

I have to raise concerns about their ideas for the sequel though. Setting it in the 7-Hour War just reeks of misjudgement, especially as part of the whole appeal of AS and POV was revisiting areas of Black Mesa: no City 17 or BMRF surely in this...

Is Azure Sheep the one where you're playing Barney and you see Gordon come into work with his classy sports car

That's the only bit I remember if it was that game

Aw bummer, I was think about that recently, They hunger was the best, well not the best but Fucing awsome mod for HL, someone who is looking for mod inspiration or ideas should think about doing a mod like they hunger, because I hunger for it!

Azure Sheep was a bit of a letdown for me- a solid enough mod, but I thought they missed out on some potentially brilliant gameplay. Gordon and Adrian being rendered into nothing but reskinned Barney's with new voice-packs, for example...

PoV was far better in my book, although admittedly the modular facilities (deliberate, I know) got to me, and I didn't have expectations that were quite so high.

Will do. I've heard good things about it, but was frankly scared off by the name. I mean, it sounds like the screename of a 12 year old Nintendo fan who TYPES IN CAPS ONLY and makes fourtie speelin misstakes inn evry sentennce. That said "Azure Sheep" makes about as much sense as... well, as much sense as a mod name that includes the word "Sheep" in it ever could do.

What can I say, but my logic fails me. I Look forward to trying this mod out
