Massive Attack

I just started listening to their music from the Jackal OST and others, and hell, do they make good music.

I usually hate techno, trance, house and all that kind of stuff, but these guys are great.

Yep, loved Massive Attack for years. Best tracks are Unfinished Sympathy, Teardrop and Angel (in my opinion).

How can you 'usually hate' a genre, that's what I don't understand... I love music from all different genres, the only thing that matters is how good the particular track is, regardless of what genre it is.

I think it's small-minded for someone to say 'I hate techno'. If they'd heard every single track from the genre and genuinely hated each and every one of them, fair enough... but otherwise just shut the smeg up.

Usually hate = I disliked every single techno song I had ever heard until Massive Attack. EDIT : Fatboy Slim has some nice stuff.

EDIT : Angel & Unfinished Simpathy are very good. I'll try and get Teardrop.

Surely "Dissolved Girl" deserves a mention? And I wouldn't call Massive Attack techno, I think they've been described as trip-hop or something. I just say they're trance, but I'm probably immensly ignorant.

Dissolved Girl is my personal favorite.

EDIT : I'm listening to teardrop and hell, I've been looking out for this song for ages now...

I have always wanted to hear more of Massive Attack. The only song I've heard is Karma Coma, which I like alot, much different than most mainstream music.

I love Massive, been listening to them for a long time by now. 100th Window blew me away, lots of great songs compared to their old classics.

And yeah, MA is triphop, a similar band that also is from Bristol is Portishead. Check out www.triphop-music.com and www.monkeyradio.org.

My personal favourites are Smalltime Shot Away, Special Cases, Prayer For England, Weather Storm and Angel.

I've got three of their albums, and thier later stuff is way better. Mezzanine is their best album, but The 100th Window is almost equally good.
I didn't like Protection much though, since the sound wasn't as smooth.
