Ravenholm

I had some thoughts on the "Ravenholm" sign seen in the new E3 vids, and I pieced the evidence from several videos together into one big theory.

I'm very confident of its accuracy though, to the point that it might spoil a big chunk 'o plot, so it's spoiler tagged. If you want the game to be a total surprise, reading this might not be a good idea.

Still, this is a beta-free zone: only guesses based on official evidence within.

Spoiler:
It looks to me as though the zombie sequences in all the videos so far are not taking place in City 17.

-In the new E3 vid, we see that a nightime area loaded with zombies is called Ravenholm.

-Also, every other bit of zombie-related media released so far is at night, in an area with very similar buildings.

-Plus the combine that you find there wear black masks (in traptown), while combine inside of City 17 wear only white ones. This indicates that they outside of the metrocop jurisdiction of City 17.

So, it appears like the entire town of Ravenholm has been infested with a headcrab invasion, and the only survivor is Gregori, who has understandibly gone insane. Plus, the combine show up for bonus fun too!

So, an entire city has gone zombi-licious. Dawn of the dead hijinx abound!
If I'm right, Ravenholm may just be the best part of the game.

It seems that you are right, but time will tell.
If i remember the movie right, I wonder how the zombies react when you throw painting at them

Got a link to said video, Brian?

Spoiler:
Headcrab meteor...in the recent interview with Doug Lombardi, he was talking about bringing pieces of Xen to Earth. So, could a chunk of rock from Xen, say, from the Gonarch's lair, specifically, have crashed near Ravenholm?

Also, Ravenholm doesn't look to be the same city as seen in the traptown vid. But that video doesn't really indicate whether its City 17 or not, either. It could be one of the outlying towns, or it might be that zombies found their way into City 17 at night.

No one's sure what it was, but it left a blue contrail of light, so I'm pretty sure it wasn't organic.

Also, remember that Gregori made the traptown traps, and he's Mr. zombie pal.
I dunno if he could get away with that with combine everywhere.

Actually, zombie-killing might get hard on your nerves and ammo count.
I bet there is 5 typed zombies with 2 mutated from humans. Those fast bastards could not have been from humans. We're all doooooooooomed! Dooomed, I tell ya!

The fast bastards were human, they've just lost about 50 kilos of weight and have a new species of headcrab stuck to their brains.

So, they can move around with super-force.

I think you're right...but I guess city17(and most likely the others(city 14)) are considered "safe"-zones

Yeah, I agree. I think that you'll be having most of your headcrab\zombie encounters outside City 17. I don't think that zombies would survive in the Combine controlled city, that's why they say "it's safer here". I wonder how our travels will take us to Ravenholm.

We may find its all allot simpler.. in that Its just an abandoned town that’s been devastated during what ever conflict has occurred and now only the zombies are left. Father Gregory may be there hiding under the assumption that noone else would be stupid enough to brave the zombie hoards to look for him.
