it's under 3rd party... and the aliens are totally nerfed down!

Game is great. Combat is pretty good. Aliens are nerfed if your team sucks, or the marine team is elite.

The initial reaction to new NS versions (I've done som beta testing) is usually "OMG X totally rules now Y is totally nerfed", but that opinions often change as soon as people adapt their marine/alien strategies to the new version.

Give it a chance you all if this is your first reaction.

From what I've played so far this seems to be the most balanced version of NS ever made.

And it works well with Steam! No more crash bug for me!
