to fix ATI card issues with FarCry
turn of Anti-alialising in your ATI control panel
as well as Anisotropic filtering you do this by clicking the "application preferenced" box also ingame theres an option in video options for "anti-aliasing" put that option at "none" heres a pic to help those having trouble. http://www.undertheinfluence.org/use...ndant/help.jpg then do the same for Opengl. you can always revert back when your done playing / going to play something else. but for now FarCry has rendering errors with Radeons with AA or AF enabled. Im posting this in its own thread, because more and more people ask, and I keep repeating myself hope that fixes things up for you.btw I use cats 4.1 (theres no issues at all with farcry with them, its not the drivers)

well.. i got the steup in setting.gif (have all gfx sttings on very high @1280x1024 and set AA in game to "high" texture filter is stuck at medium). the game looks like the SS attached (FarCry0062.jpg-resized and resampled for upload). maybe it's just me or maybe AA isn't really working, i dunno. thoughts?

perhaps it has something to do with your resolution being as high as it is. I keep mine at 1280x1024 since my monitor blows. my specs are: Intel Pentium 4 2.6ghz (2.67) Ati radeon 9800 Pro 128mb (geniun ATI, I bought it the day it came out )1gb 3700 kingston (icky I want hyperx damnit) 80gb barracuda blah blah HD (edit) and I dont overclock either, I havent the foggiest clue how (and I dont care to either, when I want more performance Im lazy and just go buy a new comp... well the parts, I like building them and I aint paying for brand names.) also if you do have AA enabled in that screenshot its not apparent even with the compression of the picture and resize, I can still see jaggies. if you really wanna test take a pic at 800x600 and crop and zoom into an edge, then post that in its entirety.

Nah, AA/AF doesnt seem to work very good... Turning AF off did fix the gross rendering/shadowy triangles error at least.

ok, sorry.. this is what i have so far (went a signed up with a free webhost
)here's what it looks like for me with AA on "application preference" in the ati CP AND AA on "high" in game (@ 1024x768 i think): http://www.freewebs.com/lil_timmy/FarCry0028.jpg here's two shots of what it looks like with the setting i posted above (AA on 6x in CP, on HIGH in-game @ 1280x1024): http://www.freewebs.com/lil_timmy/FarCry0057.jpg http://www.freewebs.com/lil_timmy/FarCry0062.jpg .. the webhost is kinda sloooooooowwwwww.... ![]() someone else plz try this out, i can't be the only one.. i'm thinking AA isn't really on, maybe the edges in the screen can confirm this (i don't know no nothing about no antialiasing )ps. turning AF on always gives me the ugly shadows.. EDIT: erm, copy n paste the links :/ |

just to let u morons know, u are running your screens in the wrong height-with aspect.
your screencard will perform much better in 1280*960, not 1280x1024. |

from what I hear, AA and AF are non-operational in this build of the game/demo.
Its best to just turn it off

It depends on the monitor, some run natively at 1280x1024, while others don't. Mine supports up to 1280x1024, and, while the aspect ratio may not look right to alot, it looks fine on the actual monitor. Edit: LT, FSAA, while technically on, isn't functional in FC. Your screenshots still have jaggies all over, which means that it's doing nothing. Edit 2: Mr. Redundant, why are you telling people to turn FSAA/AF off in their OpenGL control panel as well? That, in no way, will affect FC, since FC is a D3D application.

oh crap I did... sorry bad habit.. I do a lot of these thingies, blame it on the fact I woke up like 5 min before I posted that. so sorry guys lemme fix that. also Magnet, no need to call anyone names, leave that for the sanbox.. especially since I have no performance hit whatsoever in 1280x1024, it is my prefered resolution.... although honestly 1280x960 isnt that visually different to me. (but since it doesnt add or detract, Im going for the higher res)

ok, good.. i din't think AA was on. case closed! *gavel hit*
well, shuzer is right, in-game, there is no aspect ratio problem with 1280x1024, only in the sceenshots. |

AA is not on in your screenshots you can distinctly see when it is, even though you have it enabled (ala HALO that does the same thing, you can enable it but it does nothing but hit your fps) it is not apparent.

OK heres something good and weird for you...
I took a pic with AA on. http://www.undertheinfluence.org/use...dundant/on.jpg notice the jaggies. I then took a pic of AA off.... but heres the clincher... it enabled it. I alt-tabbed out, and when I alt tabbed back in (even though AA was disabled in my CP) it was enabled... heres my proof. http://www.undertheinfluence.org/use...undant/off.jpg (and no I didnt get them mixed up trust me) heres a comparison. http://www.undertheinfluence.org/use...mparisonaa.jpg weird eh? before I tabbed out there were jaggies, when I went back in (viola) it was in AA with no glitches... can anyone else try this?
