Should I d-load the Far Cry Demo and expect HL2 to be just like it?

I'm waiting in line currently. It's a next-gen DX9 game right? Does it use Havoc's physics too? Or are we talking apples and oranges here?

I would download it, but expect HL2 to be beter than it. HL2 is made by valve.

...the games are nothing alike. Yes, they're both DX9, yes they both feature Havok physics (although, HL2's are revamped), and yes, they're both FPS games. Don't expect them to be just like eachother, they're completely different games.

HL2 goes for a more photorealistic, gritty type of world where you fight aliens (presumeably), while FarCry features brightly lit outdoorsy jungle environments while fighting humans (atleast in the demo).

In short, no, don't expect them to be the same but YES DOWNLOAD THE F'ING DEMO ALREADY!

And download it from downloads.ign.com so you don't have to wait in line.

Far cry was totally awsome, I recommend it to you all!
However I doubt that you should compare it to HL2 since they are rather
different (from what I can tell by the Far cry demo and HL2 movies and info).

And btw Far cry does not use Havok. It's a "homemade" physics system.

No, FC uses an inhouse physics engine.

more appropriately, FC is like a hot chick that you get home (after a bit of trying, but not too much ). you fool around with her for awhile, then toss her aside, cuz she's dumb and boring after a couple of weeks (but you will probably come back every now and then for a booty call). HL2 is some chick that your friends keep telling you about.. and she's apparently hot, from the pictures you've seen. but you've never seen her in real life, and it seems highly unlikely you're ever going to see her.. much less hit that.
