New Steam Beta Available

A new Steam beta is now available. This beta has improved defrag utility for Steam games, also adds push-to-talk support for voice chat.

  • Improved cache defragmenter to both defragment at the OS level and internal files

  • Fixed apps getting stuck when downloading

  • Added audio recording device selection for voice chat

  • Added push-to-talk support for voice chat



To participate go to your Steam settings, select the Steam Client Candidate drop down menu.

Push to talk is one of those "well duh" features but better late than never I suppose.

Don't use this beta if you play CS:S, this beta causes it to crash when you load a map.

yeah that is a shame you can't have more than 2 betas running at once.
I think I'll let the SDK take precedence.

I am in SDK beta now because Clisent Candidate is/was crashing CS:S.

I think this blatantly came out of that competitive TF2 clan Valve have. Someone finally realised voice support in Steam is shit.
