Video Clip capture

How am I able to get little clips from HL2 demo video which is in Quicktime format? Like into avi or mpeg. Thnx

PS: I just want painless capturing

try fraps, www.fraps.com its really buggy and crappy, but it gets the job done

I would suggest TMPGenc and/or Virtualdub. Encoded it into dvd format in this way.
