Geforce 3 Results.

I know so many of you have wanted this! I was finally able to get CS:S and test the system using the VST (Combo of the worst stressing stuff at once)

I can tell you, you are going to be VERY PLEASED.

With my system,
P4 2.0 GHZ
512MB RAM
Geforce 3 64MB

I got these results

23.29 FPS average
All model details, etc on HIGH
No AA, Trilinear Filtering.
No water filtering
800 x 600

These are mediocre at best compared to 9800, 6800, etc results, but for what you've got, it's great :].

I know there were so many people wanting Geforce 3 results, hehe, I'm pleased myself.

OK, thx for the results, but could anyone tell me what could be the results if this guy had a GeForce 4 MX 440? I mean how much worse is A GF4MX440 than a GF3?

It has to be better... I'm currently stuck with a Geforce4 MX 420. I hate it though, so I'm upgrading...

Nah, Geforce 4 MX's are worse than Geforce 3's... I don't think it's that much worse, though.

Don't be too happy. I'm not being a spoil sport - but that VST test is not entirely representative of how the game will actually play on your computer. Could be better - could be worse.

Trust only the official benchmarks.

Unfortunately the benchmarks don't cover older GPU, with which many players are still stuck. I don't sh** with money ;]

Turned up AA to max my card will go to, turned up Filtering to 8x..

Got Freaking high framerate.. makes no sense.. but it WAS at that. Although I had pink artifacts.

Updated my drivers and the artifacts went away for the Geforce 3-

All details high, reflections for everything, AA 6x, Filtering 8x, 800x600, got average 35 FPS

That is awesome. I played CS:S without slowdown. Had slight jaggies (due to 800x600) but my AA at 6 reduced them as much as it could for that res. Overall I am in awe. How is this doing slightly better than some higher cards? It's weird. But I am very, very happy.

Which driver's and dx version(that which is displayed in advanced options in the game) are you using. Because on my geforce 3 i'm still gating error when i run the game on dx 8(failed to lock vertex buffer), and even when i succesfuly run it i'm getting extremely low fps(5-7). I'ts runing great on dx 7.0(about 66fps) but there's no effect, in the stress test i have no textures on the hanging boards, only on the first one.

I hate to rain on your parade, but higher cards render more effects then your GeForce 3.
It's nice that HL2 will be so scalable, but you're not getting the same image quality as owners of DirectX 9 videocards.

GF4MXs are rougly equivalent to GF256s I think.

GF4 MX440 is a lower end card but because it runs DX7 and not DX8 it can actually get higher FPS. The image quality and effects might not be the best though. :\
