Replaing my current CPU. (?)
right I have AMD Phenom 9950 2.5Ghz@ 3.1Ghz
I'd like to buy http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...%20phenom%20ii Reviews are claiming it can be easily clocked at 3.8Ghz....do you guys think it's worth it?? i have a Zalmann 9700LED that should still be fine too right?

Do you have AM2 or AM2+ board?
Anyway, unless you already have someone wanting to buy that CPU for a good price I wouldn't switch. Gaming wouldn't notice it much. Might raise the average FPS in games by 10 (comparing stock speeds for both). Too bad you probably have DDR2 memory. An Intel i5 would be a real improvement (especially on min FPS) and they are $200. If you are feeling lucky you could grab a Phenom II X2 550 and try to unlock the other 2 cores. Seems there is a lot of attention to this CPU and a lot of success. But again, AM3. |
