tier0.dll ?
When I try to execute the game i get 2 errors.
'The procedure entry point g_ScopeTraceStackDepth could not be located in the dynamic link library tier0.dll' and 'Unable to load filesystem_stdio.dll' anyone have any idea what I need to do to get the game working properly. I have more then sufficient specs for running the game.

Is this when installing? If you have downloaded it, I sugest you download it again, atleast those files.
If you have bought it, go and clame a new CD, caus it looks like it doesnt work.

connection to steam servers lost, could not acquire necessary game files
I got the game running and I got the above error. any ideas?

I've seen the filesystem error when double-clicking on saved files/demos from windows, so make sure you're running it from within steam, not the hl2.exe file which might do the same thing.
