Difficulty Level

What level of difficulty do u guys play on?
And what level did u start out on?

The first time i played, i played on medium...it was very exciting
Now i must play on hard or else it gets boring.

Hard since birth, baybay :smoking:

I'm somewhere in the middle of my 4th time through now, I think...

I've never completed any game on any difficulty level except easy. :P

As a matter of fact I've yet to complete HL2 without cheat codes.

OMG Jellyworld!

Anyway I started out on medium but will play on hard next time, exept for the end strider in the long hall where you only have a gravity gun it was too easy.

Medium first time, now hard :)

Warbie 20-06-2005 12:04 PM

Hard, and it's still much too easy :/ (one of the biggest downsides to HL2 - no challenge = no satisfaction)

Valve could add another 2 difficulty levels before it actually got 'hard'

There are several mods released to increase the difficulty level of HL2 SP. Search and you will find them :p

I have found some - and they aren't up to the job.

There's a fine line between a challenging and rewarding adversary and one that is cheap, annoying, or just unsatisfying to fight. Getting the difficulty setting right is far more complex than just adding health and taking away ammo (which, by playing these mods you mention, becomes all too obvious)

'Ard, I play everything on hard simply 'cause it increases the games longevity.

I always play it on normal. Never played it on easy, never played it on hard. Ok I lie, I played the last two chapters on hard,to see if it affected the pace of Breens bubble. :p

Not from what I say. He still moved at the same sloooooooow pace as he always does.

I play all my games on easy so that I can reduce frustration. It's also great for experimenting with weapons and tactics, knowing that taking these risks will have little consequence. It also adds to the flow of the game. Then after a few times through, if the game is still fun and holding my interest, then I'll increase the difficulty as my skills improve. I'm currently still on easy, sporadically playing some levels at a time.

An odd thing I find is after going through the games on the easiest setting, when I increase the difficulty, I skip normal and go straight to hard.

JellyWorld 20-06-2005 05:39 PM

Halo on legendary traumatized me. Since then I've never tried anything on hard.
