If there was a new law in January 1st 2006, all around the world saying " All media will be illegal, as in music, movies, video games etc etc " So it would be completly illegal to use any kind of media. The punishment for this was death and if someone knew you were hiding/using music, dvd's etc he/she would be rewarded $10.000 and you would be execute in a guillotine.

I don't understand...

tis a strange one Garfield.....
I think i get what you mean, but its a very extreme situation. Couldn't you come up with a better hypothetical? :)

Garfield_

Its very extreme, thats why i found it interesting. Aww help me make it better if you can

It's too obvious for debate :\

I vote hang all the judges and overthrow the government.

Haha yeah you guys are right, there is like one option that makes sense

Ikerous
10-10-2005, 12:50 AM
I think it makes perfect sense... and i'd have to go with option one.
Media doesn't interest me all that much; it's definitely not worth losing my life over.

I would, however, join any and all possible protest groups in order to fix the law.

I second that- always up for a violent coup!
Gotta make sure its well televised and well covered by the media too, just to rub salt in the wound...

There's no way every country would decide that... I guess the only way that could happen is if there was a central government that controlled every country in the world, but then we'd have much bigger problems than media.

i'd kill everyone and take it all for myself... where that option on the poll?

Nat Turner

2 more terrorist attacks and our Bill of Rights gets amended. That's my guess.

I feel sorry for the four people that voted for the first option.

I feel sorry for Garfield, his threads were an astoundingly low quality when he first started, now they've gotten to ridiculous levels. What kind of a hypothetical situation is this? This couldn't even come close to happening..

That's like asking a frog whether or not it's there. That's obviously the sexiest poll ever.

I'd secretly slip DVD's into peoples pockets and then run the police and point to them! I'd have everyone in jail..including all government people and cops :). I'd accidently run into a cop and slip a dvd on him and tell another cop and boom a cops in jail! Repeat that until you have the whole government in jail!

Yes alittle but i just wanted to see how much media really means to you guys, nothing wrong with that right ?

There's no way every country would decide that...

Of course not, but remember its just filosofy or a " what IF ??? " question

Low quality threads doesnt mean they are actually bad or boring.

Heh, yes, sorry low quality does, in fact, mean bad.

Gray Fox

I voted for option 1.
But it depends, if it was put in place by a democraticly chosen government and most of the poeple approved of it, then I would obey it, but try to fight it polititcally. But would not break the law, simply because in a democracy you must respect the rule of the majority.

If it was put in place by a dictatorship, then I would destroy all my media, so won't be arrested and killed without contributing anything usefull. But would probably join a violant resistance, getting killed that way, atleast I contribute/ tried to contribute something to better the world.

And how would they get people to know about this law without using media?

simple, let the people know about it before it is enforeced.
For example they could say, that they will enforce it in a month, and that before that time everyone needs to destroy their media.

I third that. DOWN WITH THE COMBINE! Oh wait, er I mean GOVERNMENT!

It's not on there, but I would consider hiding away for years, then unleashing a wave of tech brought about by stashed media that would possibly wipe them out, instead of a Revolution.:sniper: :monkee:

Heh, yes, sorry low quality does, in fact, mean bad.I'm sorry, have you in fact made a useful contribution to any thread in the past two months?

If the answer is "No" (which it is), then leave the Politics sub-forum immediately, and report directly to "Newbie Central".

---

Ideas like this are scary. Thus, I'd team up with Grey Fox and [attempt to] kill the [replacable] dictator to [maybe] restore democracy.

Put in place next year you say? I guarantee a major uprising would occur and there would be absolutely no way for any government to put a stop to the rebels or stop the free-flow of information. Since I would be 1 in billions I would gladly take part the uprising and assist in making sure information was flowing freely.
