View Full Version : HL2 won't Start

exactly what the titles says. :S
It used to work before however CS: Source works fine

There are no error messages of any kind
The Screen becomes black. the resolution is changed, then it's changed again
and returns to my Desktop.

My spec:

Pentium 4, 2.4 Ghrz
512 DDRAM
GeForce FX 5700 128mb

Latest Nvidia Driver is installed.

i had a similer issue.
to reslove it i re-named my game directory so steam was forced to re-build it.

"C:\Program Files\Valve\Steam\SteamApps\[accountName]\[gameDirectory]"

i changed "half-life 2 deathmatch" to "_half-life 2 deathmatch".
re-started steam, doubled-clicked the hl2dm icon and steam re-made the files and folders.
worked first time.
remember to save your "config.cfg" or you'll have to re-map all your key bindings.
