Can anyone please explain to me how I can use proxy? I don't want to show my real ip in sites.
Thanks
Care to tell us why? At the end of the day, you want us to tell you how to hide who you are, which suggests you are up to no good, or are a tinfoil hat wearer.

well that's not always true ..for example I'd love to post on a few right-wing extremist forum (give them a piece of my mind) without having to worry if I'll get my ip spammed with viruses
I said suggests. That, by defenition, means it is not always true. If it was, I would have said shows.
Anyway your from Canada arn't you? They've only got 4 ip address's, the government has two, and a little old lady who is scared of her PC has another, so everyone knows its you anyway. ;)

if you use firefox, then you could get an extension called "Switch Proxy" that allows you to quickly add proxy's and switch between them. Just have to google proxy list for a suitable one that isn't going to be really slow. Once you have found one, install the extention and add the proxy and you are laughing! :D

Actually, I used to use a proxy server to connect to certain sites that my old work blocked. I never felt bad about it because it was absurd to me that they would block any address with "game" in it. So annoying!

actually speaking of proxies....in uni is there any way to get around the server restrictions that the college lan puts in place????
anyone have any ideas??
a proxy within a proxy won't work for obvious reasons- too much disruption

But a proxy within a proxy within an enigma wrapped in a burrito WILL work! :p

If you are asking how to use a proxy, you obviously have some malicious in mind.

If your college allows you to set up a VPN to an outside machine with no restrictions, you should be able to access anything, game or P2P or whatever. Of course you need access to an external machine, but if you can find one, its not a bad method.

but wouldn't i need to install a go between software so that i could log on to my choice external computer
