I heard you only pay for Updates
Noo....
You pay for expansions. There are updates that are nice quality and really open the game up more for free.

I guess the PvP is amazing.

or they retail or do you get the expansions online? are they any out yet?
so If I get the Game now I only have to pay those 55$ and enjoy all of it without paying anything extra?

You pay for the game and they won't ask you to pay anything else. The game is balanced enough that if other people bought expansions, you could still compete with them equally in pvp. The first expansion isn't going to come out until next year. They already released a new area for the game already and it's free.

does it have adidcting Item hunt as WoW has?

Somefool

Yes and no, if you want to hunt for items to make you godly, then don't count on it. There is an unlocking system on GW where you can unlock item mods, skills, and runes for PvP characters to keep you busy.

You can always try it, not like they are going to take money from you after you buy it.

Guildwars has an extremely well coded Netcode, I don't know where people get "You'll have to pay to get expansions."
They have already added new content, I doubt they will come out with an expansion, or atleast, any time soon.
I'm hooked on GWs.
Lemon: I don't see why not.

GW is a top game, it's got a sweet set of co-op missions that are fun with guildies. You will get lots of time out of it but don't treat it as a MMORPG because it won't last forever and it will get boring after time, I'm just about over it now even with the new update. It's still well worth the money imho.

If you have friends who play GW, chances are you'll enjoy it. Well, if your friends have it you might as well borrow someone's account for a day or two and give it a try.

I played GW for a while with friends, but we all kinda got bored of it about a month ago. I don't regret buying it, though. Lately I've been playing WoW on a friend's account. Both games are very fun, and both have many good aspects. I like being able to interact with people most of the time in WoW, whereas in GW every area outside of towns are instances; however, I am annoyed at having to wait for certain mobs to respawn and fighting other players to get the kills you need in WoW. I have to admit, when I played in the WoW beta I got bored with it pretty quickly, but after playing GW I realized how much more massive WoW is.

The point I'm trying to get at is that while both GW and WoW are good games, I feel that GW is a better value. I think that WoW is a better game with more content, but if I didn't have a friend to leech off of I wouldn't be playing it. I'd rather stick to GW than pay monthly. But that's just me. The two games are similar, but there are also many differences, both small and large. It's really impossible to say for sure how much you'd enjoy it without playing it for a while first. If that is an option, go for it.

Let's put it this way. There is enough content in Guild Wars to last you about a week if you like to game a lot. After you reach level 20 it's quite boring. I liked WoW but absolutely hated GW and thought it was a huge waste of money.

This is just my personal opinion. I think it gets boring too fast and lacks content.

They have already added new content, I doubt they will come out with an expansion, or atleast, any time soon.
Every 6-12 months they will release high quailty expansions. They talked about this a long ass time ago.... These expansions are to continue the story, possibly add new characters, etc..

That dosn't mean they wont add alot of new content via patch.

If you hate PvP then this game won't really last long if you only play the PvE part. Since this game is about skills, you get to decide on what kind of character you want to be since you get 8 skill slots. Each class have 75 skills and since you get to pick a secondary class, that totals to 150 skills to play with. Since the game is comepletely balanced, no skill is useless when used right. So don't buy this for PvE alone.

This monkey speaks the truth. Guild Wars is a lot like one of those card games like Magic the Gathering - it's more about the strategy of putting together a balanced "deck" of 8 skills than how you actually use those 8 skills. PvE borders on a Diablo clone, but PvP is where the game is truly beautiful.

GEt it. NCsoft = good
NCsoft has nothing to do with it. There just the publisher. What did they do for the actual game? Nothing, besides mass produce it and ship it.

ArenaNet = god.

ah and so the opinions of gw and wow are brought up again. You know what, if u wanna pay monthly fees by wow if ya dont get gw....they're both amazin games. If ya like fantasy more buy wow, a bit more realism buy gw....its that simple.

Obiously there are differences but both relate to eachother alot.
