Which game will you guys think will be this year's GOTY? To me, its a hard choice between BF2 and FEAR.

I honestly have no idea what could win this year, but I do know what game deserves 2006.

Oblivion, or FEAR.

I havent played Oblivion yet, but if its like they say it is, its surely worthy.

Fear is just amazing, the demo alone makes me feel valve could have done better with hl2.

I Vote FEAER or BF2 *obviously* I'm sure BF2 would win in a multiplayer aspect, but FEAR would win in any single player. I mean, it's just wow. The demo was amazingly well put together. The voice acting was pretty damn sweet to. All in all, it's a tuff choice, but I'd vote for FEAR honestly. It's pretty dificult to create a Single player game that is really enticing and gets you into it. Multiplayer is hard in its own rights, but I don't think it would be AS hard in some.

I dunno about fear, seems like a game that will deliver a wtfpwnage couple of hours than just get really stale.

The demo probably had 1 stand out moment for me and the rest was. "Go into next room kill group of people go into slow motion, next room, repeat, repeat. Oh look played out little girl thing"

All of the good games seem to be coming in Q4, so out of the games I have seen, it would probably be zelda.

The way the game looks isn't all that is needed for a GoTY.....

I'd love to say BF2, but it came out half finished, so maybe not- it's still my pick tho.

BF2, FEAR and Oblivion will be strong contenders for a GOTY. I personally liked Silent Hunter III (http://www.halflife2.net/forums/showthread.php?t=75406&highlight=silent+hunter) a lot. IMO that's certainly the GOTY in the sim-category.

Why are you people naming a game after just playing the demo? (a very short demo at that) For all you know the game could end up like DooM 3 or FarCry(which started off good, but then went to crap when the Tridgens appeared) after the first couple of levels. Remember guys, the first of DooM 3's levels were actually pretty scary. Talk about getting sucked up into the hype machine.

i remember i read on the IGN that if RE4 was released in 2004 its definately will be the game of the year

You guys act like FEAR and BF2 are the only games that exist.

You seem to have forgotten game that came out a bit earlier:
Brothers in Arms, GTA: San Andreas, Chronicles of Riddick, FreedomForce vs the Third Reich, Guild wars, Swat 4, and more whcih are all eligible for GOTY in various categories.

And as for ALL around best, a lot of you have mentioned games that haven't even come out or that you haven't played. The only game that's come out yet is BF2, you don't know if FEAR is going to be just a gorefest.

Plus, BF2 has a much bigger community than FEAR.

i would say BF2...so far...by the looks of the dungeon siege 2 demo its looking GotY material
