Please help, can't make online working server

Someone Please help me whenever I make a new server, no one can see it on the server-list/cant join by IP.I've been trying for a lot of time to try to make a server that actually works on gmod. I have V8.3b version of it. Please help if you know the problem!!!

i have same prob but i know what it is!!!
its becuz you making it on lan and you have to make it on internet!!!
but don't ask me how to do that????

I just made a server using "create server". I even had people joining who I didnt know who said they found it listed publicly. I didn't do anything beyond starting the server. You could have the port blocked on your computer somehow or something. Dunno what to tell you.
