Does anyone have the new Dream Theater cd "Octavarium"?
If not, I suggest to any rock fans, get this cd. It is the epitome of progressive rock.

No, get Images & Words or Awake, and stay away from Octavarium for a while. I don't like it much, nothing on their older stuff. Nothing. Root of all Evil is good, though, but the rest I wasn't too keen on.
Good news is they are doing another two 'an evening with...' shows in London later this year. Hurray. Waiting to order tickets now.

I have the album but I have yet to listen to it. Need to get around to that...but Opeth seems to keep getting in the way. From what I hear they're continuing with their more modern, heavier style, which I have no problem with, as even though it's a step down from Images & Words and Metropolis Pt. 2, I think the heavier sound is just a progression in their sound, even if it means slightly more simplistic songs. I thought Train of Thought was excellent, so if the new album's anything like that then I won't be disappointed.
In fact, most of the critique I've heard of the album has been from people who generally don't like very heavy music, so I suppose it depends on where your tastes lie rather than a clear-cut good or bad.
