(no, I'm not making this up, this is how intense the game is)

I'm a sniper, covered in leaves and ready to kick ass.

I spawn with my squad. An assault, a specop, and my beloved medic. We're pretty tight together and we follow each other as we run across the noisy streets.

It's much too late when I hear the distant PANG of American sniper rifles, and before I know it, half of my squad is laying dead on the ground. Damn.

"Clear!"

I feel a jolt, my blood is flowing through my head again.

"Get up buddy, you're gonna be alright"

Damn straight...

The commander drops a supply crate; the perfect cover. The snipers are still up on the building, and me and the medic are pinned behind the damn crate. I attempt the imppossible...

I prone, roll ove my side. I spot the two snipers just in time: PAH! PAH! PAH PAH PAH! Two down. I reload my love toy, that was for Allah.

I run up an old building and make myself comfortable. The enemy is sprawling the surroundings, all running right passed my crosshair. I kiss half their team good-bye as my ammo slowly empties into american bodies.

Enemy reinforcements arrive. I hear the groan of tanks, and way too much infantry. "Enemy spotted! I need backup!" I desperately yell.

Then it was like the voice of god, two nice bright hisses from above. And before i know it, the friendly sound of artillery is ringing on my ears. I see a corpse fly up above a wall. I pick out the survivors.

Damn it feels good to be a gangsta.

I hear the sound of a jet engine coming near my 6 o'clock. I turn around as the jet whizzes over me and all I see is a bomb flying right at my face.

BOOM.

I go flying a hundred yards away.

then you need to play with Amish, Krynn and I... it's just not the same game.
the best part of BF2 is the squad tactics, it brings a whole new element to FPS gaming, just ask Krynn and Amish.
VOIP and teamwork on such an intimate level, yeah it's one side vs the other, but when you're in a squad and you're working together, it's like so much cooler, so much more in depth......

the 3 of us dominated that server for the majority of the day, that is until this EA dude, and some clanners got on, and showed us the meaning of HEAVY ARMORED ATTACK.
we were constantly nailed by their overwhelming amount of tanks, (well the thing was they moved in squads, and were very organized)

man this game rules.

I can only imagine what kinda damage a 6 man squad could do, with a decent commander... and hell multiple squads working together... *gurgle*

lol, it's hard to pick a greatest moment, theirs way too many. But i'd have to say one that sticks out in my mind is...

me and 2 other dudes were in a buggy, im doin jumps and stuff over the dunes. The one guy says "careful, dont hit anything" AS SOON (and i mean as soon) as he said that, i turned a corner and BOOM! hit another buggy head one.

Squads worked out a lot better than I thought it would.

There were 5 of us, 3 with VOIP, two chatting but just talking less. We ripped up the map with just that small amount of teamwork and the help the commander gave us by artillery striking targets we called, etc.

Later there were 3 of us, and the rest of the 16 player team was just goofing off. The three of us beat their entire team.

I mean, you could do teamwork in previous battlefields and even chat over teamspeak, but for some reason it's just a lot different in BF2. I pin it on the commander, but.. just a certain feel.

you can spawn on your squad leader
you can chat only with your squad, no fluff, no fooling around, no kids singing in their mics.
your team actually relies on eachother (health ammo etc)
the infantry combat and feel of the game is simply perfect. whereas before it felit like you were making love to an oversized walrus whenever you tried to do anything.
you can coordinate with smoke and commands

just to name a few.
I must sleep however.

:naughty: Toward the end of the round, I took out like about 10 dudes, it was sooo tight. When I first started playing the demo, I grouped up with this one guy and we snuck behind enemy lines; sticking to walls, crawling under the train, etc etc... but the greatest moment was when I was in Commander mode and daaaaaaaaaaang the beginning of the match my team(USA) took over basically all the points, leaving the MEC's main base and I would just barrage the base with artillery and had some squads nitpick the little groups of enemies that tried to attack our fortifications, I had my largest squad repeatedly rush the last remaining MEC fortification. We then ended the match in a score of like 280 to 90 or something along those lines.

Some of mine would be shooting down a blackhawk, except they all bailed out in the sea - So I just gunned them all down while they were helplessly trying to swim :laugh:

Taking inspiration from the IGN movies, I got a jet and parachuted into the sea by the carrier, got on top - planted C4 on the Blackhawk - everyone piled in, BANG! :D

Not so much of a greatest moment, but still pretty funny;

I was sniping from the crane near the construction site when a US chopper decided to show up and wanted to party. One of the guys inside the chopper tries to parachute onto the crane, misses the platform entirely and crushes himself on the ledge right in front of me, and falls to the ground below with me laughing my arse off as he does so.

The chopper pilot then decided to crash into the river nearby... good tactics :D

Ive been a sniper, and our commander was manning a rocket turrect, a tank was coming at us, I ran out and shot at it, it turned and started to follow me, allowing the commander to kill it with the turret.

I was a MEC sniper on the top of the crane. I picked off about 10 americans before they started getting angry. They sent a squad of 3 guys to flush me out, and I picked off one guy as he was climbing the ladder with my silenced pistol. Once the two guys came up, I fired wildly, before being shot by an american M16 bullet and having my limp body fall hundreds of feet before landing on my head on the ground below. Man I have got to buy this game

Me and one of my squad mates were in a Blackhawk, he was flying and I was a sniper shooting out the side window, I took out about 6 guys before we got hit by some APC, it was REALLY fun though

I was running along the train tracks when the enemy on a dune buggy comes racing towards my direction to run me over. I quickly went prone and to my surprise because i was in the center of the tracks the buggy drove right over me, i got up and shot the buggy into pieces.... it was so awsome.

That happened to me but with a tank. I thought, meh, I'm gonna die, after I proned, but I went under it. This for me was a "OMFG WHOA" moment, even with how dorky it is.

But since it was a tank I couldn't kill it and it just spun the turret around and shot me with the machine gun. But still..

A really cool moment from about an hour ago :

I was driving my squad via boat from the carrier, when a Blackhawk and an enemy Mi-28 smash into each other overhead, bits of the wreckage and bodies rained down on us - watching those bodies smash into the water and float away was so cool :p

There are so many great moments each game - another one would be jumping down on top of a T90, killing the machine gunner, planting it with C4 and blowing it to pieces. Every single explosion in Battlefield is so satisfying.

This game kicks some ass, thats for sure. I spent all day playing it. There have been like 20 awsome moments but the best has to be when me and a full squad went head on with another full squad.

I die and respawn at the carrier, get the Blackhawk, fly to the hot spot, pick up my entire squad and went to high altitude. From then on it was death from above for the other "squad." (e.g: 2 running idiots. :) )

MEC pilot. In the SU-33, I've got all six missles. I come up behind the US carrier and there's an entire squad about to get into a blackhawk. Just as they all take off, I launch 3 missles and blow it out of the sky. Immediately after that I see a US plane comming at me. He fires his missles, I roll and release flares just in time to dodge. I come left to see him crash right into the control tower. Nice flying buddy...I finish the turn to see the second plane respawn and a guy trying to get in and liftoff. I glide over and drop bombs killing him, and everyone else on deck. I got about 8 kills and saw one hilarious suicide in about 20 seconds...I'm loving the planes.

I just drove one straight to the carrier and blasted the shit outa everything on the lower deck. Then moved up through the ship with a mate and another squad who followed us in a boat.


We got owned on the deck... but it was still alot of fun! :)





Also, sneaking up on 5 guys who were prone on a ridge shooting the crap outa our control point and just droping nades and taking out all of them at once!!! :laugh: :E

I have to admit, that was absolutely the best time I had too.
we really meshed well as a squad.

when you invest a certain amount of feeling into the game, take it seriously and work together.. the game can almost feel real at times.

the camera shaking from gunfire, the sound effects are amazing, the sight of your squad independantly thinking, but reacting as a group... it's just... like ... it's almost real.
when your squad is sprinting across the desert together, checking the horizon on all sides, and moving towards a flag... it's so damn brilliant.


I must say, I thought gaming was dead, even Hl2 fizzled out, it was fun... but I have to say, I have never ever had this much fun in a game... never has a game felt so polished, balanced, well thought out and complete.
and this is only the demo.

I was firing on some tanks/infantry on a rooftop, then I heard the whistling of artilery fire. Got out of prone mode, started to run off the highest roof with explosions all around me, jump, next roof, jump, onto a fence.

Last shell hits me dead on the head, I went flying :D

I drove a heli high above enemy territory: "Hop out!" All 6 of us parachuted down.

I can't beleive tehy actually listened to the generic voice comm! We ended up spreading a lot of havok and capping the middle flag.

I've had quite a few great moments. Some of them being bland, like when I see myself at the top of the list for my team, when I was the single, lone squad leader with no squad members... actively doing missions for my commander. I'm seriously getting my groove back that I had with 1942! Woot.


Anyways... I snuck my way close to an enemy base, launching my grenade rounds from my rifle(assault class), getting some 'amazing' long shots as I moved in. Then I switched to intense firefight mode, running around sandbags and unloading a few rounds of lead into a few guy's heads, occasionally rapidly switching to my pistol to finish them off(DAMN, the pistol's ROCK! I've gotten like 50 kills with them).

So i'm sitting here, rather alone in this enemy base, and one of those fast dune buggy type vehicles spawn, and I make a run for it. Bullets go whizzing by my head, and kick up dirt all around me as I hop into the drivers seat, and pull it into reverse. Little did I know, an enemy was behind me and I ran over him going backwards. Straightening it out in the proper exit I wanted to take, I high-tailed it out of the place and zoomed on towards the safety of my easternmost base(I was MEC). Getting a repair, I had two guys hop in, and I took them on a sweet joyride. We zoomed on up towards the flag with the giant crane(on an aside note, the buggies are sweeet fun driving), and I sped down the main street there going parralell with the crane, and crashed into two guys and making another limp badly. Up popped an enemy soldier with a rocket launcher on his back, from the curved downward slop I haven't yet gotten to, and he fired. It zoomed straight ahead at me, wavering from side to side a bit. And at the last moment, I turned right just slightly and it zoomed down the side of my vehicle, and I crushed him with the full force of my buggy. Upon reaching the end of the road into the sand, I turned around, and was preparing for another such experience, with my two gunners mowing down guys to the right and left and straight ahead of me. However, as I was speeding into my next run, there was a lone trooper in the middle of the road, and with one, loud 'BANG' my life ended as he sniped me... the crazy driver.

We went to one of the capped flags and I started circling around it at a low altitude, about 70ft above the ground. I kept circling and my gunner kept drilling the enemy. We racked up about 20 kills on that town alone, although the enemy quickly adapted and started using rockets. Imagine two black hawks just circling around in opposite clocks, pummeling the enemy's town. Although...finding a counter to tanks is difficult, thankfully they aren't very adept at shooting down blackhawks.

Another great moment, me and a friend single handedly took over an enemy base. We attacked the first base along the coastline but started off sneaky. I shot 2 guys and then all hell broke lose. The USA team must have sent just about every one of their soldiers to that base to protect it. We had guys coming up from behind us, but my friend took them out. After shooting about 3 more americans, I was hit by a stray bullet. Luckily, my friend was a medic and was able to revive me. We took out a few more enemies before having to fall back. About 5 minutes later, we arrived in tanks and easily captured the base. We then went on to capture all the coastal bases, while Alpha squad took care of the rest. Fun game!!

just got out of a game with some Hl2.netters, Marksman, Foxtrot, Pauly, Jimbo, Amish, Dalamari, shakermaker, Axyon and quite a few others

anyway we grabbed the boat (on the USMC) and headed for shore... along comes this Jet fighter headed straight towards us, our Gunner fires frantically at the jet, most of us start firing with our weapons too... The Jet starts spitting out a large amount of machine gun fire from the nose mounted cannon, water splashing everywhere, shell casings flying in the air, adrenaline pumping, view shaking as our boat rocks from the incoming fire, and shakes hard as the Jet passes inches above our heads


that was effing unbelievable, we all were like.. omg that was AWESOME.. and we were alive to boot ;)

I have to say it was so cinematic, it was like a scripted sequence in another game like MOHAA or something, but like on crack... and completely realtime/dynamic from another player.
this game is chock full of moments like this,.

mine would be earlier today, i was playing with shaker in our 2man squad. :P

we basically just took vehicles and bombed around the map, anyway on our way to 1 of the flags on the beach we got caught in our apc by an enemy 1, the 'dingdingding' warning alarm went off, i quickly jumped out thinking that our apc would blow but luckily for shaker it didnt, but obviously not for me.

eek, i was caught in the open as i watched shaker speed off to the flag, i quickly weaved, dodged, bunnyhoped out of the apcs fire, loaded a grenade into my m4, fire, bang, not dead. quickly i dodged and jumped out of its fire, loaded another grenade boom, explosion, up it went, 2 inside dead, but the fun didnt end there.

i heard the approaching sound of a buggy @ full pelt, i turned around and saw it heading right for me, the guy was trying to run me over. i just in time loaded another grenade and hit the buggy straight on, exploding and coming to a stop literally infront of me, awesome it was, like black hawk down or sumit.

playing tonight in the squad was awesome too, particurly the 1st hl2net squad i was in, taking the hotel flag while gingerninja, foxtrot and i covered the flagtakers from above on the hotels roof was awesome, it was cool when a enemy apc raced into the area threatening to rob us of a flagtake, but my trusty grenade launcher came in handy again, BOOM, 2 more kills. :D

My moment of the day:

The squad's moving towards the western beach spawn. It's heavily defended. We're in the dunes -no cover- so we gotta move fast. A tank spawns and the enemy takes it. It rides into the open so I take a shot with my POW. A hit. The tank reverses back to the flag. I fire again but miss coz it hides behind a couple of shacks. There's a small alley thru which I can spot the tank. I take a shot. it goes over the dunes, thru the alley, into the tank which explodes. My best MP shot ever. And of course we took the flag after that.

I just got back from a game where I was MEC. I flew one of my planes over the US carrier, ejected, and floated down, killing two people from the air. I then got in the Huey and three guys ran up thinking I was on their team and they were all around me and couldn't get in so I lifted up ten feet and then fell back down in the copter, killing all three. It was hilarious!

An entertaining yet fecking annoying encounter with Foxtrot over and over - I'd see him in his AH-1, so I'd fire up the Mi-28 and chase after him, chase him for about ten minutes hitting him quite a few times, which either resulting in him turning around and putting 15 missiles in me, or him going to the carrier and repairing while the AA defenses kicked the shit out of me. :(

Still fun though :)

Not the greatest but quite funny, our commander dropped a supply box over me and crushed me to death. I think a medic tried to revive me, but my body disappeared.

Edit: Here's a funny one, a guy ran into the building at the beach, so I threw a C4 inside, I checked and he hand was blasted into the ceiling and he was hanging there swing in circles.

Well... I got into a plane, americans... and proceeded to have one of my most awesome runs in BF2. I used to be a very talented pilot in 1942, but man... I was doing sweet here. About 8 enemy planes downed, two being on the runway... numerous AA launchers strafed and destroyed resulting in a kill for me(mainly at the MEC base). Lots of bombing kills and strafing run kills..

And so.. with all that, being the best pilot on the team not having died once yet, I got a couple friendly kills in a heavily contested hotzone with lots of enemies, and a couple friendlies killed in a strafing run at a seemingly empty enemy base, and I got kicked. ARGGGGH!

Today's greatest moments would have to be:

1. I'm squad leader, we're taking a boat from the carrier to go down the ruver. There's 4 of us total in the boat. A chopper starts coming from our 3 o'clock with a gunner guns blazing and rockets flying. I turn the boat sharply to the right going straight at him to cut under his rocket and gunfire. He passes over us and rounds on us again. The next 10-15 seconds are me swerving the boat back and forth dodging the shots coming from the gunner. Water is splashing left and right, rockets explode near our boat. One pass the chopper manages to kill all 3 of my squadmates. I'm the last one left. I manage to keep the boat moving and stay alive. Either the chopper got shot down or he ran out of ammo because we didn't see him again.

2. I was driving a buggy (with Redundant and Raziaar)from the construction site towards the hotel because the point was neutral and we had to reinforce it. I tear in through the dirt road entering the area and veer to the right where an MEC soldier had just hopped into a tank. Obviously we were gonna get roasted by this guy in a simple tank shell or a spurt from his machine gun so I tear RIGHT past him towards the hills at the back of the area (towards the red zone). You know how the area is surrounded by walls - I went up the hill just a bit by the beach-side wall and turned and cruised down the opposite side as the tank fired and missed with a shot. We tore ass away towards a beach spawn point instead :P

Here's my screen of the day. This guy got blasted by a bombing run that left him...impaled I guess.

however the chopper didn't kill me, only Raziaar and Crazy, I just switched to the gunner position when I saw Raz get blown away.

chopper musta ran outta ammo, or figured we weren't worth the effort, I wonder if it was the same guy we blew up at the heli pad when we got to their base. (Raz took him out as an Anti-Tank)

The chopper is firing and barely missing. Dirt is kicking up, water splashing, you can see my rooster tail zig-zagging behind us as I swerved back and forth. Excellent.

damn I wish I had taken a screenshot when I was spec ops, and I placed a couple C4 charges on the runway, and I ran at the UAV drone station, put some c4 on that.. and I timed it that the plane that was taking off went over the C4 just as I got outta range, and I blew both the Jet and the UAV hut up in the same button press.

I was like "Guys check this out" ,.... BLAM!

Being chased by a tank near the construction site, all my squadies dead, bar a real lifesaver taking both 50 cals for me :)

manage to dip into cover, right infront of a mec squad!

Open up, with the clear element of surprise nail all 3 of them.

the tank moves past me looking the over way, I sprint out, drop 2 det charges on the back of the tank, as it's driving away I'm standing in the middle of the road, c4 det in on hand, it trys to turn a corner and I push the button.

just got out of a game with some Hl2.netters, Marksman, Foxtrot, Pauly, Jimbo, Amish, Dalamari, shakermaker, Axyon and quite a few others

anyway we grabbed the boat (on the USMC) and headed for shore... along comes this Jet fighter headed straight towards us, our Gunner fires frantically at the jet, most of us start firing with our weapons too... The Jet starts spitting out a large amount of machine gun fire from the nose mounted cannon, water splashing everywhere, shell casings flying in the air, adrenaline pumping, view shaking as our boat rocks from the incoming fire, and shakes hard as the Jet passes inches above our heads


that was effing unbelievable, we all were like.. omg that was AWESOME.. and we were alive to boot ;)

I have to say it was so cinematic, it was like a scripted sequence in another game like MOHAA or something, but like on crack... and completely realtime/dynamic from another player.
this game is chock full of moments like this,.


lol, I was driving that boat... I saw it and just thought "wow..." then realised I was driving at the last moment and tried to turn away! :P

Greatest moment was in a game earlier yesterday morning, when myself and some other squadmates (who also happened to be clanmates) had just captured Olive Hill and were heading through this walled area to the next command point. For absolutely no reason, I hit the Z key to go prone as we were running. Soon as I did, an enemy jeep passed over me, literally; I was between the wheels. My two teammates jumped out of the way and the jeep smashed into a wall. I popped up from behind it and shot the driver and the gunner, as my teammate Vaspire killed the passenger gunner and my other comrade Weet hopped into the driver's seat. We mobbed outta there towards the next command point when a second enemy jeep started coming at us, so Weet drives us straight at it and flips our jeep over on top of theirs as we all hop out. Later he was remarking that he bodyslammed it.

Second greatest moment was when I was leading a much larger squad on the USMC team, where we all filled out a blackhawk on the carrier (I was in the right-hand gunner position, since I can't fly that thing yet), and I was screaming at people, "Mount up!" We headed off towards the western-most coastal command point on the map, and I'm shouting to my squad, "You three parachute on my mark! Pilot, circle overhead and get me over the flag; I'll give you guys cover!" Once we were over the command point I yelled, "Bail!" and the guys in the back leap out the side, parachute down and start mopping up the enemies as I'm using the chaingun to take out infantry, tanks, and APCs. After we took the command point I told the pilot to land and we picked up our troops (I revived some of them) and moved on to the next point. It was just a really awesome teamwork moment.

Honorable mention goes to the time I was also on USMC, standing on that big silo at the MEC base with two teammates (one being my friend Weet), and this MEC chopper is doing runs at us, firing missiles. I'd heal and revive my squadmates, the thing keeps flying at us and we're running low on ammo, so the next time it heads right for us I put a couple pistol shots through the glass and blow the whole thing up. It crashed into the side of the silo. We were all laughing and saying, "Saving Private Ryan!" (an allusion to the scene where Tom Hanks is firing at the tank with the pistol).

Other moments. I was playing on a server yesterday. My squad (3 members) got in one of the buggies at one of the beach bases. The base next to us was held by the USMC, so there was heavy fighting between the two bases (we were MEC). There were over a dozen soldiers on both sides lying prone between the two bases, hugging cover and generally looking fkn war-like. We flew past them in the buggy and jumped into the base, running over three enemies and then getting out and taking out another 10 or so from behind / suprise, giving our teammates a chance to move up.

It was excellent.

Just had a great game on the NEKKID server. I went to take one of the coastal bases from the USMC, when I spotted two of their tanks rolling in from the distance. They quickly destroyed my stolen APC, leaving me and the stinger site. I got off a couple of shots at the lead tank, but realised that my number was up.
Then Maybehere swooped in one of the MiGs, dropped his plane on the rear tank, ejecting safely at exactly the same time that I blew up the lead tank. Then we took the flag, and marched off for tea and biscuits.
