...any of you even play the original Battlefield? I'm highly afraid Battlefield 2 will turn into the shitfest Vietnam and Desert Combat turned 1942 into. If god will only strike down those who wish to ruin such a promising game...

I played the BF 1942, DC, and Vietnam.
Desert Combat prolonged 1942's life if anything. Vietnam was a flop yeah. I don't see how you can think DC ruined 1942 or anything..

It attracted assholes to the game. Ask any number of Desert Combat players when they started playing the game, and you will see what I mean.

I suppose, I know what you mean because I've played DC from it's first version until DC Final .7, but it may have been better in the longrun, it's all in finding a good server, yaknow?
I think about it and yeah, BFV was full of assholes especially, but I played on my clan server and with other clans on their big servers that had good admins and it wasn't really an issue.

lol, define "shitfest"
DC improved on BF1942 if you ask me. I just want to find a server where everyone wants to use squads and work together. I suppose there'll be more of that when the ranking system is in place on the retail version but for now it can be kinda annoying.

Shitfest = Idiots running around. KISS! (Keep It Simple Stupid / Keep It Simple Shitface). You have got to love combining "Shit" with another word.
Shitbitch
Shitface
Shitcam
Shitwhore
Shit****
Shitsquad
Shittihs
Shitslayer
Shithole
Shitdrink
Etc...

In my old clan SHIT was what we put newbies through before becoming a full member.

Lol, shitfest :D
(yes, I laugh at dirty words, I haven't passed that phase yet, frankly I'm starting to believe I'm a little stuck there)
Yes, I have played BF1942, a lot. Wake was such a great map, especially when the demo came out with Wake, it was probably better than the game itself.
I owned with tanks.

What was wrong with DC?
That was perhaps the most fun, professional mod of all time.

The problem with any multiplayer game, inevitably, is the public that plays it.
The public, in general, are complete arseholes.

You people have very little faith in the gaming community.
I think the guys made it so much easier to just work in teams and follow your squad in this game. There should be a lot more pub teamwork.

Years of experience have given me no faith in the gaming community.
Joe public doesn't want to play in a team. He wants to see his name at the top of the scoreboard. He wants that helicopter that you're about to take off in. He wants you to get out of his way as he tears along the road in a Hummer. He doesn't give a flying monkey fart what you want.

I'm afraid of that too. Battlefield 1942 was just great, then I bought Vietnam. I hated it, something missed.

I think it'll be fine. Find a good server with the minimum of public f*cktards and have fun.

I knew a couple of the Desert Combat developers, ctsketch and SW-14 to name a few. The last thing they wanted was for it to become what it is today, regardless what Frank says (Head Developer). They wanted something people of BF42.com / BFCentral.com community could enjoy, together.
Not only that, EA seized stunting (X-Pack Jumping) thus stopping half of the enjoyment... Namuraz, great times...
