BF2 Demo won't start :(

Hey.. Finally finished downloading the install file, ran it, installed fine, restarted PC like it said... Ran the shortcut... And the screen goes black... And then it just quits to desktop right away, without any message.

Could anyone help?

Eh? What can I do to fix it? I have a 9800 Pro... ? I tried it with the 5.6 drivers, and then I rolled back to 5.1, but to no avail... Man, I wanna play!

Hmm, try reinstalling directx, that helps sometimes for me. If that doesn't work try re-downloading the file. Also I have a 9800 pro with 5.5 drivers and am having no problems with it. Hope this helps.

same problem here but i get an error "d3dx9_25.dll" missing or something ..apparently it has happened a lot with games all you need to do is pop by microsoft and get their june 2005 release of the directx9 sdk or directx itself im currently downloading the sdk.

lol the bf2 demo is ****ed up and has shit error handling and device enumeration. Instead of add three lines of device id parsing, they decided to deny 'support' for all geforce4 cards. Blatant shit programming.

Typical 'your card is not supported' error is a crash after a black screen immediately after running the game .exe.

Oh well - I'm off to play far cry at 60fps on high settings on my geforce4. 'No dice' as far as Dice's hardware compatibility programming I'm afraid.

Hmm... I can run the game, I get as far as the main menu but when I click 'single player game' or whatever it is, my system just hangs. I've got a 9600xt running Omega drivers (Catalyst 5.4)... can't be bothered messing with my drivers tonight, maybe I'll try tomorrow.

i could never do that.
im just making an asumption here but do all you guys use win2k ? coz it was only tested for xp and the 9.0c sdk is only available for xp .

And it's not just for the demo, if it doesn't work on this demo it won't work on the full. I have the same problem with BFV. Someone having to do with the startup movies maybe?

I'm gonna reformat tomorrow...
I'm going to reformat in about 10 minutes. Every single zipped file that I download is corrupt. I've already downloaded three different BF2 demos from three different sites, all of them are corrupted. I know it's some stupid, sneaky virus that's doing it. All sorts of things are going wrong on my computer. Now it's time to waste six hours of my life formatting, then reinstalling 1000 programs. ;(

Sorry m8 your card is not supported in bf2, for nvidia it is only FX and up, and for ATI it is 9500 and up.
bf2 engine requires 1.4 shader vertex unit.

Yeh, I have a 9600 XT pro and it JUST runs on it. I need to upgrade my processor though.

there is a fix, unfortunatly it's in early satage and crash sometimes and causes the game to be untextured.

Ok, at the moment Ive tried changing the screen res, and I'm getting this error message, which I suppose is better than getting no error message at all...
