Does anybody have any particular favourites in terms of solo artists? Most music of the music that ends up being dicussed here is from bands, so I thought I'd see if anyone had any favourites in terms of solo artists, who I believe can sometimes create the best music out there.

Ben Folds is my personal favourite. He plays most of the instruments he uses in his songs, and is a fantastic pianist. His humour pieces are also fantastic, "Rockin' The Suburbs" and his cover of "Bitches Ain't Shit" are absoloutely hilarious. His serious songs are awesome, "Sentimental Guy" and "Losing Lisa" are both incredibly moving pieces.

I have nothing but awe for this man, I can't wait to see him live.

Right now I've been listening to TONS of the new M83. The other guy left so it's just one guy doing it now, and I think it's better than ever.
Also...
Devendra Banhart
Elvis Costello
Jon-Rae Fletcher
Ryan Stanley

That's all I can really think of right now

Actually, the correct answer would be Elliot Smith.

Eminem on his first couple of albums (Marshall Mathers and Slim Shady LP), he went downhill after that. I shan't mention Avril or someone will tear me apart.

Sam Beam, has a group called Iron and Wine, but it's pretty much all him.
The album 'The Creek Drank the Cradle' is in my all time top 10. Awesome folk/alternative country- it'l make you cry, or a money back guarantee.
