Off another forum:
turns out all the demo x360 consoles were turned off to fool people into thinking they were playing on the new console.
in reality the x360 isn't nowhere near ready to be used let alone taken into production.
the demo's up for play at E3 were actually run from apple G5 computers hidden away in the cabinets!

It seems these so-called next-gen consoles has sparked a bit of controversy at this years E3.

What's the betting Sony decide to "leak" a conspiracy onto the internet too just to keep with the crowd?

I already knew this, it has been said multiple times at e3. The actual beta kits go out in july.

Does it really matter? The xbox 360 will be much more powerful than the G5.
Sounds prety ironic that Microsoft would be using Apple software. I'm sure it must be fake. Even if it's not, who cares, we know what the damn thing looks like and what it'll have inside it; if some gamers were fooled when they picked up an early production version of a yet unfinished console, who's the wiser?

Its really no secret that Microsoft often uses macs, they even make some software for it.

Too bad an Atom bomb didn't go off at E3. Sick of this console bullshit. Get rid of them all.

What events are they?
If you mean the non-backwards comparitble thing, there is a thread somewhere on the forums. Besides, this graph is just my personal rollercoaster. This is how I percieve the success of the 360 so far.

It was just a sarcastic comment that wasn't meant to be taken seriously, but I was referring to the way your interest/excitement grows until the 360 is announced. Then it decreases until it's revealed that it looks mediocre. You know, you predict the future.
It's just that your labels are in the wrong place.

Your graph is upside down, why does excitement increase until "good news" comes out, then it decreases drastically? Wow, excitement for the Xbox sure increased once the Revolution was revealed....

why do you lurk around general games during e3 time then.. lol

your graph .. sucks .. especially 'i'
you know you get all excited and spread news like this everywhere when you're a useless fanboy : )
This is good news tho...
Like I said in another thread...this could mean game devs can finally possibly create a shitload of more games for the mac.Only reason why I haven't switched to the mac yet is due to very few fps games on it and no hl2.
It's one of the big reasons why apple doesn't have a lot of marketshare.

funny you should say that ..a few years back I switched over to pcs for those exact reasons (6 years as a mac guy) ...I think gaming will hit apple in a big way in the next few years ...Jobs has offered companies development money if they'll make games for the mac

apple? ya I read somewhere they were partnering with sony ..but I'm not all that sure what that means ...will it be something like the HP ipod deal? basically a psp with an apple logo slapped on?

Apple are poised to enter their own handheld gaming device, leveraging the success of the ipod. They've been hitting up developers for quite a while now. No idea when they're going to announce it though.
Oh boy!I better start saving up for the next powermac then. :D
As long as there is a lot of FPS games made for the mac or ported over then I will be happy.
Also...pi will ya'lls secret game be supported on the mac?
CptStern
20-05-2005, 06:40 PM
hmmm that's a risky move ..I mean all the other players have been in gaming for years ...apple has never gotten over the stigma of macs not being built for games (I disagree, some of my fave games were on a mac) so this could possibly go either way ...just hope it doesnt turn out to be like their gaming console that never made it to the consumer

all the best ones get ported ...but usually 1-2 years later ...although some games like D3 and WoW had near simultaneous releases with pcs
More NDA-bending info from The Man(tm). Nice.
all the best ones get ported ...but usually 1-2 years later ...although some games like D3 and WoW had near simultaneous releases with pcsWell thats what I'm talking about...Instead of having to wait a few years, actually make them available for macs the day they get released.Make it mandatory or something that all games be supported for mac and pc on the day that they're released.
Also hl2 hasn't got ported yet. ;) :(
Also apple should really get rid of that ****ing one button mouse.Thats another thing that puts off PC people.

hl2 cant be ported ...steam
the problem is that there really isnt that big of a mac gaming community ...I should know ...I probably know most of them by name :)
hehe that one button mouse thing is funny ...just buy another mouse ...that's what I did

probably but is it worth the expense for valve to start from scratch? ...what most of you dont know is that Half-life 1 was supposed to come out for the mac ..there were demos, screenshots etc ..but at the last minute the developer pulled the plug ...never understood why ..but it was a devastating blow ...almost as big as getting Halo stolen from under us ..yes Halo was supposed to be a mac game

I dont know...believe it or not Halo was a huge bust for the mac ...the profit lines are so slim that pirated versions of halo almost destroyed the company who ported it

Kidding man, but I agree with many people here, if there was some decent games for Macs I would definitly buy them.
I always thought Macs were too difficult to customize, kinda like laptops ? Wrong impression ?No not really...Apple keeps a strict policy on what hardware and software is used to keep all their products at top quality and for the mac to help keep security tight.
They ain't like the PC biz where you have different mobo makers and case companies.Apple is mainly a hardware company itself...think of it as a ferrari/aston martin/buggati of sorts in terms of how it is. (No I'm not talking about the speed.)

nope, you're half right...well you can swap hd and ram and other components but the cost is never worth it. Modern macs have the same parts as pcs...sata drives, ati and nvidia vid cards ...just a lot more expensive than the pc version as they're optomized to run on macs

That's exactly how I think of it, an all-Apple built PC. That's why I found it totally uncostomizable, after all there's only one manufacturer, 0 competition and they do what they want to do, you gotta eat it up.
I've always wanted to go Linux too, but I just can't handle the geekness of the Open-Source community :borg:
