For real. Low-res shots dont really show off too much.
The games flora/fawna looks pretty nice, but not really better than oblivions.

yea im impressed. I hope somebody releases some high res pics. I want to check out that grass, etc. in more detail. From far away it almost looks too detailed to be released any time in the next few years.

I don't think Oblivion pales to anything in comparison really...it's up there with the best gfx I've seen recently...but Gothic 3 is looking sweet.

Speaking of next-gen rpg's such as this one and oblivion, there's another one worth checking out called The Witcher.

According to what I do know, Gothic and Oblivion are 2 diffrent types of games.
Gothic is more story based than the Elder Scrolls Series. Much more story based. I am no real gothic fan but according to my knowledge, that should be correct.
While the elder scrolls series was made not only to have a well done story, but to also live any character you can imagine, and oblivion was made to really push that with it's AI>

I loved Daggerfall, I loved Morrowind, count me in for Oblivion.

Gothic, never been a fan... going to wait to see how it pans out.

The witcher is built in bioware's NWN engine (the aurora engine) albeit heavily modified. so far all the videos and screens I have seen of the game have not been what I would call next gen, but it's not done yet.

Lemonking think of Oblivino as..
Oblivion = Arena + Daggerfall + Morrowind +More.
Morrowind left out alot of things Daggerfall and arena had. In oblivion, all of that is changing. They have completely revamped the Spell and Weapons. Oblivions Engine should be able to render better than Morrowinds.(Morrowind rendered things you couldn't see thus drastically dragging down performance).
It will also be able to scale better(interview).

Anyway Oblivion is taking things that were done wrong in Morrowind and revamping them. Even the AI is going to be by far some of the best. With the ability to create there own quests in real-time(Like MW's Fargoths Quest)(Not Scripted). AI that needs to eat, sleep, go to work, everything unscripted!!

Oblivion is pretty much taking all that was once wrong..and making them right down to the AI.

G3 looks too fake and cartoony.

JoWood is just the publisher. The developer of the series has always been a seperate company called Pirhana Bytes.

I think the real difference between Gothic and Elder Scrolls is that Elder Scrolls focuses on completely free-form gameplay, basically its a single player MMORPG. While Gothic focuses on atmosphere in the stories as well as settings. Wandering around the Old Camp in gothic 1 really does feel like your wandering around in some Dark Age Feudal town where there is little order, health, and happiness.

Also the first part of Gothic 2 is not so good if you never played the first and also because it takes awhile to actually start gaining any real power and start to feel good kicking ass.
