No
i love the AoE serias , its really fun game espcieally the multiplayer part.
so im not only excited about the graphics , im excited about the game itself ( AGE OF EMPIRES 3 ) weeeeeeeeeeeeee i love this game ......
If you are exicted about the game itself how much can you tell me to what it really comes down to?
The Gameplay.
I mean I look at EE2, currently it holds the best graphics for an rts, and some people have the nerve to say "EE2 gfx suck compared to AoE3" yet would still get up and say "Why would you compare HL2 gfx vs Next Gen gfx".
All i'm saying is people have a tendency to let what they want to feel\expect to feel get infront of how good the game actually is.
I mean I loved AOE2, but I don't even know how much of the actual team who made that game is still there. So I am going to judge this game like any other game. I know little about the actual gameplay that will be featured in it. So currently I don't really care for this game until I get an actual hands on demo\actual game.
Right now I am still wondering how this would "revolutonize" or set the standards for the next RTS's to come.

There are actually five ages in the game ^^

that's a cool interview- they don't hold back and say 'no comment' or anything. This game is truely going to rock.
There are actually five ages in the game ^^
So?
Thats not really that much...

no but its more than the other AOEs, and having one that's nearly unobtainable is a good incentive for the hardcore rts gamers.
I guess......but then again...

do You want it to be 216456 ages ?
so the player keeps upgrading and upgrading etc...
This game gonna be fun beleive me
This game gonna be fun beleive me
Im not doubting it wont be fun, though I am not exactly sure..as well I havn't really been givin a hands on demo, though you act like 5 ages is alot which it isn't at all..maybe for a AOE game but no..not in the Gaming World or hell even the Starcraft Mapping World.
I am just saying, 5 ages is not that much, I am not saying im upset with it or that I dislike that many or anything. I am just saying it is not that much.

...will this run on my 486? :dork:
seriously though, I wonder what the minimum specs are for this game? (prolly pretty high judging from those screenshots :upstare: )
Do remember RJ, AOE is not about going from Past to Present to/or Future.

So?
Thats not really that much...
The original one only had four.
Well Poet you have to learn to read, Tweedy beat you to it already, just read my replies to him.
And anyway so what if it had 4? I am simply saying it is not that much. It isn't that many ages. What kind of a response is "The oringal one had only four", because it still isn't really changing anything that I said. I am not comparing it to AOE or AOE2.
I am simply saying, "Five ages is not that many, and you shouldn't get excited over 5 ages"
I'm not saying I want more ages, I want less ages, or just one age. I am saying 5 is no reason to get excited about.
J_Tweedy
02-05-2005, 12:27 AM
I dont think people are getting excited Mineral. It's just a new element to the game that looks like it should provide a new dimension on multiplayer AOE. When you say "5 ages is not that many" you are obviously comparing it to something that isn't any other Age of Empires game. That is simply a unfair comparison to make and criticise on.
Why do you only want one? The ages is an integral part of the game.
I am simply saying that 5 ages is not alot.
God you people are getting on my backs. I am simply saying that.
I never said I wanted one, you should read it better.
I am saying
I'm not saying; I want more ages, I want less ages, or just one age.
Or in other words
I'm not saying I want more ages
I'm not saying I want just one age.
I'm not saying I want less ages.

02-05-2005, 01:42 AM
well, sorry, it was just badly written and i read it how it was.
anyhow, this game is going to pwn with 1 OR 1000 ages, so it doesn't matter too much :p
It was written badly, yes I will agree with that ^_^. Since im not a grammer teacher...and more of an anti-grammer person... I don't exactly pay attention to my grammer all the time.
then what do u want ?
Well I want a few billion dollars...
Oh in the game..well then I want..something that is simple, fun, easy to learn, hard to master.
I don't care about it's graphics or physics. I want a game that is simple yet fun and has a nice sleek online service with a great editor.
People come in here and marvel at the graphics and people without knowing nothing on how fun it will be, will pretty much say "I want this game".
I mean will someone tell me exactly how the gameplay mechanics are. I wont doubt that this game could be good, but I also wont doubt that this game could be awfull.
You don't buy a game because of it's rather old past when compared to how long Pc Gaming has been around. You don't say you will buy a game because it has over the top visuals. You buy a game to have fun. So far I have no clue how fun this game will be, and if it will be all hype.
You all act like this is the exact same team that made AOE1/2. Some act is if these graphics and physics make the game.
This games does look draw dropping, but I could actually care less on that. As long as the art style can please the eye, I am fine.
I really don't see what you are getting excited about.

forgive us for getting excited, if this games looks so far as if its going to be really good, for whatever reasons people find important.

I could care less about the graphics as well. It's a nice bonus, though :D
After reading http://archive.gamespy.com/landing/ageofempires3/ and some articles a while ago on the persistent home cities, I am indeed looking forward to see how this develops.
The concept of having a home city as an online persistent entity, much like a 'MMORPG character' is a pretty neat novelty, and certainly has me interested.
The economy sounds like it could be fun. Small groups of colonists building up a settlement, eventually becoming a more powerful colony, all while receiving shipments from the home city. Add in trading with natives as an important part of gameplay, and it certainly sounds promising.
Formations being an important part of combat, with musketeers taking turns in rows to shoot. Cannons are appealing. Big ships, yupppers.
Heh, I was never a fan of either AoE1/2, but if they manage to pull all this off in a successful manner, this could be something worth looking forward to. I'll certainly try the demo, at the very least.
The feature that impresses me most is the persistent home city, which is very 'revolutionary' for me. Most likely the coolest feature I've heard for RTS games in a long time. If done well, this would rock (cooler than the Dragonshard 'nexus' building system? Hard to say, we'll see).

from the various screen shots it does look like you can zoom in, but not sure about way out. I don't think anything has been announced

ONLINE.
http://www.planetageofmythology.com/aoe3/features/#home
There are various other articles going more into details about it as well.
Well that didn't answer my own question(I didn't post it though).
When online was said, that immediatly made me think..
Singleplayer requiring a online home city?
Now for multiplayer it isn't bad.
Llyranor
03-05-2005, 01:51 AM
Your homecity will be persistent throughout the sp campaign. Separate from the online ones (you can have multiple home cities to develop).
As for the matter of skirmish, the devs are still sorting it out.

Yall act like gfx make the game.
Sometimes it does but the gameplay is the real deal.
There is one thing that I really don't like about the online...
Upgrades pass from one game to the next..
What if you wanted to play your friend that is amazingly good and had only been playing for a few days. You two went into a game togeather...yet you had an immediate advantage of all the upgrades?

Same as you would in a MMORPG. You launch up another one of your 'characters'. You can have multiple home city accounts.
I guess but.... I'm sorry I 'like' the idea but I would prefer ever game a fresh start.
