It didn't look like this has been posted yet, so i thought everyone would want to know.

http://xbox.ign.com/articles/608/608385p1.html

I haven't really had a chance yet to read much but so far the comments sound positive. They also have a video interview with Jay Stelly from Valve, which i am downloading now.

Wow, cool. I'll have to tell my brother about this. He didn't have the chance to play it on the PC.

Thanks

Aside from the spelling and gramar errors, the article summed up what I had been hoping the XBox version to be.

That's a lot of projects for Valve to be gunning for release this year:
LOST COAST
AFTERMATH EXPANSION
XBOX VERSION
TEAM FORTRESS 2 (most likely)
+ STEAM updates for Deathmatch and Counter-Strike

They said that Valve made improvements in the lighting and bumpmapping, but they obviously needed to tone down the polys in the characters. Look at this:

:) Practice what you preach. (Just messing with you. :P)
This sounds good. All the PC haters in my school with be able to play some HL2. My only concern is Aftermath.

I'll be getting it to add to the collection :P

They've really dumbed down the textures. And without anisotropic filtering they look shit anyway.

What's going on with the 'updated bumpmapping' stuff? Why couldn't they implement that in HL2 via steam as an update?

Someone with an uber computer take the same shot with highest settings and post it here. ;)
I was going to get the screenshot from this site and compare but I cant seem to access the media section (Forbidden error or something).

Valve is crazy. Don't forget CS2 and all them others you didn't mention.

I wouldn't think CS2 would come out this year.

Sorry I cant get exactly the same picture but I tried. You probably can't find any better looking shot on the PC. As you can clearly see the PC version is of much higher quality then the Xbox version. Things to look for:

low vs high resolution textures
pixel shader on glass vs blue texture
aliasing
lower polygon models

C'mon it's not that bad for a console that old.

Which means mine doesn't even compare.

taked from ign article

"For those of you unable to support a PC that can handle the monstrous and gorgeous game, the Xbox version is the perfect solution"

see PC fanboys that why a console version of a good PC game is a good idea

so before you all say "WTF??? HL2 ON A CONSOLE????? 1Ts D4 SuccXXORS!!!1PC OWNz00R CONSOLES MuzT D13 lolololol!!!!!111" think about that

Hang on a second, looking at them 2 screenshots... didn't Valve say the Xbox version had improved lighting? All i see is degradation.

HL2 should be on a console, so more people can play it. but they shouldnt release it on the current consoles, its not doing the game justice graphically.

The vids look better than that and I'm sure by the time of release it will be good.
