View Full Version : How much would you pay for Aftermath?

Zyphria

Well if Valve is cutting out the publishers on this one and going straight to Steam, they have a couple of options....one they can make a fine profit at $20, or go for the 'gold' with $30.

I'm hoping that they will restrain their desire to fill their pocket books....but hey, they're Valve right?

I would pay 25$ bucks not more

I'd say about $30 (Canadian :) ).

I said dont care.

As long as its good and comes out, Ill get it. As long as its not over $50 which im 99% sure it wont be...

I think you need to separate the "Dont care/Dont want" it option because most would assume that they dont want it, but really its partly people like me who dont really care how much it is...

same.
Opposing Force and BlueShift were around $40+ Canadian dollars after taxes IIRC and although i thought that was kinda pricey, i felt, being related to the HL series the purchase was warrented :p

As long as it's not insanely overpriced [like > $50] I'll get it.

Mechagodzilla
21-04-2005, 05:51 AM
Apparently Aftermath is around 35% the size of HL2, so anything under 30 seems a reasonable price.

But, since the question is how much I would pay, I'd pay 60 if I absolutely had to. But no more than that unless there were a crapload more special features announced.

Ranga

I don't care really... If I think it's worth it, I'll buy it :D

If you didn't feel that box of useless crap was worth the extra 30 bucks, why did you buy it?

kupocake
21-04-2005, 12:33 PM
$30 about £20... that's what i'd expect to pay for any expansion pack, though as this is more Blue Shift than Opposing Force, $20 sounds more reasonable...

10,- and no more, aftermath is only 33% of hl2, it's very freaking short. Pkuys with hl2 you got cs:spurce and all the mods. i can't believe you people would pay that much. HL2 didn't really have a proper ending, aftermath should be free.

Ennui
21-04-2005, 10:39 PM
$30, but I'd rather pay $20.

Actually, I think they should give it out for free to those of us that shelled out $100 for the Gold package.

Spectre01
21-04-2005, 10:40 PM
If it's american money and I'm getting something that is 1/3 as long as HL2 wich I will finish in one day. Less than 20 for sure.

Dude, absolutely not. It wasn't in the terms when you got the Gold package, and as such you won't get a discount.

i rather see it in the stores with a sign "free for hardcore gamers" but oh well. . maybe we'll get winter een-mas someday.
25$ smackers should do the trick though. .

anything, I just want to be able to download it off steam without a credit card.

I wish that companies who sell products online would realise that credit cards are the shittiest mode of payment on earth, first it's by far the most insecure, then it's not even made for paying your regular stuff with it's to pull you out of a crappy situation when you need it and what happens is you forget that you baught stuff with it then spend all your cash and then the end of the month comes and you're screwed and have to pay interests, and furthermore all half-decent banks offer internet debit options and to see net retailers totally ignoring that option is deeply puzzling to me.

Im not sure if Ranga was joking or not, but Ill just post this anyway...

(USD = United States Dollar, GBP = United Kingdom Pounds, CAD = Canada Dollars, EUR = Euro)

1 USD = 0.77 EUR
1 USD = 0.52 GBP
1 USD = 1.24 CAD

So this is what itll be converted on the poll...

Less than $20 = Less than 15.40 EUR, 10.40 GBP, 24.80 CAD
$20 = 15.40 EUR, 10.40 GBP, 24.80 CAD
$25 = 19.25 EUR, 13 GBP, 31 CAD
$30 = 23.10 EUR, 15.6 GBP, 37.20 CAD
$35+ = 26.95+ EUR, 18.2 GBP, 43.40 CAD

Well, I worked out that I'd be willing to pay about $36. £20 is not a bad price for an expansion pack.

I would pay £20 for it too. I think that'll probably be a reasonable price.

I'd pay 20-25 euro, which would be $25-30.

Of course, in the end I'll pay whatever they ask :p (like most people here perhaps).

I think it should; Valve is the kind of company that would do that, too.

Rocketman9mm

I'd want to play everything official HL2 related, but anything over $20 is really pushing it for an added "chapter" or whatever it is. It'd have to have significant substance to get me to pay more than twenty for it.

boglito
22-04-2005, 09:07 PM
I would pay whatever they ask for it the second it is available for d/l. If I pay a huge (relatively) price and am disappointed I would simply never trust valve again. They have not let me down yet (even condition zero was worth it due to the css beta) so I trust them.

Ofcourse, if the game length is only 33% of the original, and the new content is nothing spectacular, anything above USD 20 (33% of what I paid for HL2) would be steep. I don't doubt a price at about USD 30 and would not mind it if the quality of the episode is generally high, we get new features (HDR), and there is a decent ammount of new content.

I will buy it and play it first, and then make up my mind about further business with Valve.

I don't think it should be any more than $20-25 (Canadian), since I paid like $70 for HL2. Hell, I think it should be free, but whatever. If Valve doesn't release a retail version then I can't buy it anyway.

Beerdude26
24-04-2005, 10:36 PM
Let them just do the same as they did with HL2 : A boxed version (Collector/Non-Collector/Teletubbie) and a Download version.

Wait... doesn't silver and gold get expansions for free, or did I just misread something when I bought silver.
I would pay 30$... well, I voted that, if it is 33% of Half-Life 2
I would probably want it for free, or 20$

alan8325

$25 or less and i'll get it right away. More than that and i'll wait for reviews to see if the content is worth it.

oldagerocker
09-05-2005, 08:13 PM
I'll buy it however much it costs, but idealy, il hope its £15... $30USD. More than that for an expansion pack, is a rip off.

eber
10-05-2005, 04:43 PM
demanding more than 20 bucks is just unfair for it is just an expansion. so every1 who bought half-life2 has the right to get the expansions for little money.
if it costs more than 20 ill just wait a few years.

lol back in the older days you got a full game for 30 dollars. avp2 just costed 35 bucks when it came out and its such a awsome game. it was really worth it.
