Could not connect master server to retrieve server list & only 195 servers

Hey all,
I'm having a LOT of problems with CS:S and HL2DM.
First of all, most of the time it won't connect to the master server. Yes, my connection works when it does that.
However, sometimes it does work, and I find around 195 servers, but one of my friends finds AT LEAST 10000 servers all of the time.

I'm not getting any support from Valve, or the steam forums. So please, help me with this problem.

i cant join games at all,, sometimes i migth connect Cs 1.6.. for a while,, but,, its like,, always,, when i oopen 1.6, source, hl2 dm and stuff, i connect and,, when i get in, the whole thing freeze`s,, and,, ive re-installed steam for about 5 times and having the same problem each time, at first tries...

Are you sure all the required ports are open?
