I just noticed this with the new maps, perhaps it's been there a while but if it has been, I've only just noticed it.

The ladders don't seem to do the up and down shakey crap any more. I had a go on underpass and noticed it on the really tall ladder, so I had a go in lockdown and gasworks and those are shake-free as well. I also tried connecting to an outside server on lockdown and it's ladders were shake-free too (so it's not just a symptom of running the server on your own computer).

Anyone else notice this?


Also they're going to need to fix the 'die-in-water' bug since it is now an 'official' bug (previously they weren't going to touch it because no official maps had water in them). This occurs when you die underwater - your next respawn (and all thereafter) will be plagued with "under-water" noise and you'll have 0 AUX power. Only way to fix it is to swim under water again and then come back out.

But underpass now has a very large pool of very toxic (2 hits to kill me, when I was at 100/100) goo, so if you fall in it, you will die, and then you'll respawn and have water-sounds and no aux power and no way to fix it (since there's no non-lethal water in the level).

There is a small amount of clear water in the sewers, in the H-shaped hallway. I tried it last night - one end of this hallway has a deep end that is deep enough to duck and reset your aux power after drowning.

I too noticed that ladder fix. What I also noticed was that the crossbow may have been toned down in the damage department. It took me TWO direct corssbow hits to kill some guy. I saw blood squirt out both times. Also, this didn't happen once, its happened to me atleast 3 times, and all on different servers.

Crossbow damage is the same. However, hit registration is still clienside... so it looks like you hit them - also, crossbow does 100 damage, and if they have even 3 HEV, they won't die :)

Hit reg is of course server side, only hit animations are drawn client side :). Besides, the hit reg problem has never occured to me with the xbow, only with hitscreen weapons. Chances are, the guys you shot hat some armor, as badger said

As for the crossbow - before the update I shot it just in front of one guy, so it bounced and hit him , but he didn't die - he flew like 5 meters up and resumed combat ;] That's kinda strange...

The crossbow has always been like that. Nothing has been changed.

Yeah. This is particularly an issue on the gasworks map, where you can sometimes fall down the ladder if you're not careful, and due to the way HL2 has "dismount regions" you can't get back onto it until you reach one, which is usually at the bottom/top of the ladder. Annoying.
