I have 2 problems to report - I wanted to know if anyone knows why they happen or how to fix them:

1: I can't login to the Friends network. Even if I do, none of my buddies are reported as Online, even if I know they ARE.

Also, my buddy list shows the buddy names as jumbled text.

2: My brother has this problem where whenever there's lots of action or gunfire on the screen, the game starts getting MASSIVE chop or lag. The sound stutters, and he can hardly move.

Ironically this usually happens as soon as someone starts shooting him. This doesn't happen on servers with very, very few players, but SHOULDN'T happen on crowded servers either because A: It's never happened before, and B: his CPU and GPU are plenty good enough; 1.2 ghz and GF5 5200.

Why are these issues coming up? Anyone know? Thanks.

don't worry about friends network; it rarely if ever works properly.

Wouldn't that be a reason to worry about it?

Anyway, use Xfire, not the friends network :-P

Xfire eh?

And does anyone have similar issues of sudden chop attacks?

yeah the friends network is a joke, and for the choppiness I get that playing on an ATI 9000 when there's smoke down or something like that but it isnt crazy severe.

Um that cpu and gpu is actually under the MINIMUM requirements, so to say they are plenty is quite an exageration. Im telling you right now his card and cpu are the main problem, check his fps with the command net_graph 1. You will see his fps lower than 30 a lot.

I recommend putting the settings to the absolute lowest they can go.

Hmm..

I used to play with a GF 4 Ti 4200, and got great performance in CS with medium/high settings.

Twice the CPU, but still...

Ah shucks, you're right :dozey: I can imagine his CPU would lock up, but I still don't quite understand it.
