Unsupported video mode

I tried to move the resolution down one level to get a little smoother play (suggested by STEAM FAQ site) but after I hit apply the screen went blank and I got the 'VIDEO MODE NOT SUPPORTED' screen. No problem except now I can't see to switch it to another setting. Someone please tell me I don't have to uninstall/reinstall to fix this problem!!

In the MY GAMES menu, right click on HL2 and go to properties. A window should open and there should be a button that reads "Launch Optoins" click that and type this:

-width 800 –height 600

Just copy and paste that into the launch options.
