Really? I wasn't a fan of TOCA 2, that only deserved a 60 out of 100 in my book. The graphics sucked, the steering & shock changing abilities weren't worth much, & alot of the tracks were alot similar.

Burnout 3! Flatout and NFS are also very good, though. :)

Trackmania :sunrise

its just amazingly addictive (demo is now out)

and Carmageddon 2 is also amazing - although only a simpleton would actually race to win :)

+ I want to play GT 4 is supposed to be "quite good" :p

Depends ... there are many types of racing games. My favorite all-rounder and the one I spent most time on was Need for Speed 5 - Porsche Unleashed.

Best console arcade racer = Burnout 3
Best console racer = Project Gotham Racing 2
Best PC racing simulator = Live for Speed
Best racing game of all time = Outrun

Strictly speaking in terms of car racing:
Rallisport Challenge
Need for Speed 4 / 5 (can't decide)
Project Gotham (deserves a mention for how many hours I've played it with my friends)

Other racing:
Wipeout XL / 2097 -- #1 choice
Xtreme G

I'd have to say -

Gran Turismo 4 - always been a fan of the GT series
Live for Speed - a cheap and cheerful racing sim
Project Gotham Racing 2 - much better than I thought it would be
GTR:FIA - a more realistic approach

Live for Speed - One of the most realistic racers out there.
Grand Prix 4 - A great F1 simulator by Geoff Crammond.

Interstate '76
That was amazing. I remember playing it on my 120mhz system. I remember the levels being large and the dodgy character models being hilariously bad.

mm....Interstate '76. I've still got that somewhere. Also, the awful sequel - Interstate '82.

Carmageddon 2

...and this isn't really a racing game, but does involve cars...

Need For Speed
Flatout
Tough Trucks
World Racing (only for split screen)

also on the point - why do PC racing games not have split screen or proper replays...

And why do console games never have driver cockpit views? :(

I use to have interstate 76'....those were fun times.

I suggest you get it...even tho the graphics might suck (old game duh), but it was fun as hell.
