View Full Version : World of Waiting

Okay, I'm going to tell you a story. Of woe. And waiting. And general frustration.
It all started when the European date for World of Warcraft was given. I was pretty excited about it, so I naturally preordered. I had heard of shortages and Blizzard cutting off new production, afterall. Heck, I even put it on first class because Royal Mail suck.
So anxiously, I waited. And waited. Until February 21st, when it still hadn't come to me. I contacted Royal Mail, who told me I needed to wait 15 working days after it was dispatched to claim it lost. I didn't need 15 working days. It was lost. Royal Mail either bring it right, or not at all. There's a horrible likelihood of "not at all" in the mix of things.
On the 3rd, I contacted Amazon. One of their support team got to me, and after some conversation, they agreed to send a new copy because they had swiftly come to the same conclusion as me.
So, here I am. Looking at my Amazon orders. And hohoho! 10-11th May. MAY. That's roughly 3 months after I ordered it! Painful.
So, there's my story. When you're playing World of Warcraft, think of me! :P

I avoided these problems by simply not wanting to play in the first place :D

Well, Everquest needs something to save it from a premature doom. WoW has outsold it vastly. I'm pretty sure if Everquest 2 sold as well as WoW it'd have the same server problems.
This is the fault of Royal Mail. I mean, they're shit. They screwed up this Christmas, they can't secure their mail, £1000s get lost everyday. They're crap, and I don't think they deserve to be called "Royal" any more.

Can't you just cancel your order and go pick it up at some game shop?
I always pay for alternative delivery services if i have the choice, even if it costs more.
I feel sorry for you though, may is a long time to wait. Even longer wait if you've played WoW before it came out and know what you're missing :/

Blizzard have stopped selling it at non-online retailers because it's too popular :) So even if a store has some copies left, they won't be able to sell them until Blizzard have bought more servers lol :)
At least you get to play it though. Think of all the little kiddies who's parent's are mean and think that there are pirates on teh internet who hax0rz your computer if you even say the word "credit card" outloud.
...that didn't help did it?
This thread reminds me very much of P-P-P-Powerbook! (http://www.p-p-p-powerbook.com/)

I went through a slightly different, but equally frustrating experience waiting for Grand Tourismo 4.
First, they waited forever to release it, GT3 came out years ago, a quicker follow up would have been welcome, considering GT3 didn't have quite the amount of content that I expected (read "too short" , "not enough cars/tracks")
Well It was supposed to come out like a year ago
Then they kept pushing the release date back, back, back..
Finally they settle on a release date.
I pre-order becuase I see an add at my game store, promising a game demo with pre-purchase.
I kept stoping in to the store,"where is my game demo"... still no game demo, more than a month goes by.. no game demo.. then they push the release date ever further back.
Well here it is, I have the game, it finally came out, and I never got the game demo
The demo never came.

I always order from www.gameplay.co.uk, they rock.
but apparantly you'll still have to wait until the 8th of April to get it! Better than May I guess.

Odd, I bought my version from a store not long ago
EDIT: I don't know why there is a sad face in my title.

I got it on the release but my other half wasn't so lucky :(
She had to get it from E-bay at a slightly raised price of 44 quid, just came for her today all packaged up and ready to go. While i'd imagine its against rules for them to do this while Blizzard have halted production its the way to go if you're *that* desperate :p

Well think of it this way, by the time you do play it they'll probably have some new features. Maybe even servers that stay up
