I was driving on the highway in Vermont with my father when a song came on the radio. It was this awesome classic powerballad song with sweeping guitar and organs (also flute in the background in a couple parts, as I recall). All in all extremely well done, and very good. The catch was... the vocals were all polka-style yodeling! I couldn't decide whether to crack up or get into it, so I did both. Ever since, I've been trying to figure out the name of the song. I just emailed the station, but I don't know if they'll reply, or if they do, if they'll know the song. If any of you have heard what I'm thinking of, please tell me what it's called. Thanks!

Finntroll - Jaktens Tid springs straight to mind.

hmm... I checked the song out, and that's not it. I can hear the resemblance, though. The vocals and guitar are much cleaner in the one I'm thinking of... it's not nearly as hard. Also, I made a mistake before: the vocals are yodeling, not polka. Thanks anyways.
It's likely still Finntroll. Try the song Aldhissla, if it one you heard was slower than Jaktens Tid. The resemblance may come from the fact that the thing they yodel in that song is also used in Jaktens Tid, and a couple other songs on the album...though in different styles and speeds, obviously. Absolutely phenomenal band; they're one of my favourites...not to mention they make some of the best party/drinking music of all time. :)
Yodelling, flute, organs and guitars? Surely it can only be Hocus Pocus by Focus. Hope that's what you're looking for.

Hey JMan...
I'd just like to say...
I LOVE YOU
That song is sooo awesome! Oh man, it's taken so long too. I can't wait to show this to my dad.
Glad you found what you wanted, even if it wasn't quite what I thought it was. :)

Haha, that's quite a funny song. Especially like 3 minutes in when the guy does a weird singing solo.
Here's the lyrics: http://www.123lyrics.net/h/helloween/hocus-pocus.html :P

bwahahaha... I'd love to meet the guy who sat down and entered those in.
On second thought... yup, those are nothing like the original focus lyrics. Looks like the Helloween (whoever they are) version isn't a straight cover.
