Well guys and gals.. this one probably has been done before.. but i would love discuss drummers. I myself have been playing for three years now... and have loved every minute of it.
In my mind some of the greatest and most influential drummers are:
John Bonham of Led Zeppelin - Hands dwon probably the greatest to love. Listen to their BBC sessions and tell me other wise. Plus out on the tiles is a freaking awesome song lol.
Neal Peart of RUSH - Beng a canadian i had to ad himt omy list. He has amazing stamina, and soem of the fastest hands i have heard.
Chad Smith of Red hot Chili Peppers - One of the most fun lovin, all out drummers out their. To me he has always made drumming seem really fun.
Travis of Blink 182 - DEAR GOD where the **** does he get his energy from? And cnd can he pound his set! WICKED drummer!
Well thats my list... lemme know who your favs or inspirational ones are....
PEACE :smoking:

Nicko McBrain and Lars Ulrich. I guess there are better drummers than Ulrich, but I just like the guy.

I think my legs would drop off.
Fave drummer? Apart from Pete Sandoval, Mike Portney from Dream Theater. He is a excellent drummer. EX-CEE-LUNT.

Chad Smith is a great Drummer :D
Brad Wilk from Audiosalve/RATM is one of the most under-rated drummers IMO, he has a John Bonham style to his playing, but it's still unique. Though his stuff in Audioslave has been somewhat less demanding.
Proscriptor from Absu is absolutely insane, and Martin Lopez from Opeth is also very good. Hellhammer (known mostly for his Mayhem career) is excellent, as well.

Definitely an excellent drummer, but drum solos don't work outside jazz, and Led Zep's drum solos are looong and often rather dull. Technically impressive, nonetheless.
Where's that guy from Def Leppard? Just for sheer triumph over adversity value?
Joe Morello of the Dave Brubeck Quartet? Art Blakey? No-one?

Plenty of drum solos work outside of Jazz. If anyone saw Motorhead last year they would of been treated to a brilliant solo after Killers. Was awesome.

I believe the best drummers at the moment are to be found in extreme metal. Proscriptor of Absu is excellent (does vocals simultaneously too! check out the vid for Manannan). Other favourites of mine are Inferno (Behemoth, bit of a trigger whore, but noone who sees him live will complain)and J. Read of Revenge/Axis of Advance (quite a sloppy drummer, can't doublekick worth a damn, yet somehow razortight and definitely unique, and possibly psychotic).
Obligatory kudos goes to Hellhammer, Derek Roddy, Laureano, blah blah.

His better drumming was on Concrete and Soul of. The only remotley good drumming parts from Archetype was on the song Drones. I think.
